Complaint Review: The Gilmer Law Firm PLLC - Brooklyn New York

The NYS Bar recommended that an investigation be filed against this unscrupulous attorney with Second Judicial Department in Kings County, where they instructed the victims to first file a civil suit against Gilmer. If you check public court records you will find he is being sued civilly for taking his clients money without providing a service, a practice he is very comfortable with as you will see from other victims below. This again shows how dishonest and unethical this attorney is. He is not genuine when he says this is a "false" made up report. Mr. Gilmer, did all these people get together on the Internet at various times to plot your demise? or maybe it is true and you are being exposed for the crook that you are. This is where victims take their power back to warn the public of your misdeeds. You actively participated in ruining your reputation with stealing from your clients and now you have to face the music.

  George Gilmer hasn't filed a divorce I paid him for in full 3 months ago. Has no excuse other than he is sorry and busy. He doesn't respond to emails and can't be reached on the phone. I have hired a new attorney since he hasn't been able to complete the most basic of tasks. Since he has done nothing...

  My experience with this attorney started well the initial consult we reviewed the case details and he explained my options We chose the direction and I paid my retainer. 1st day of court he was there the case ended up being adjourned for a few months and this is where it went to hell. I tried calling my attorney to share updates on the case for weeks I called left messages with his live answering service, I emailed I did everything I knew to reach him no success this went on for months! Now the court date is here I am not certain if he was showing up I became frantic finally he called said he was on medical leave and thought the person whom he left in charge was actually doing so!! Huh?? Okay I am a human so I accepted his apology and some lady showed to the court who seemed clueless. That case was adjourned also. Few more months of the same so I took matters into my on hands I contacted the other attorneys I negotiated the contracts they drew them up I sent one contract to my attorney he answers!!! I said how's the contract? He says great sign it! I said are you nuts!!! This contract is not in my best interest I was shocked he said sign it but then again he was out in a restaurant enjoying a meal at the time! So I sent in the revisions of the contract along with the revisions for the other attorney as it was a family court matter 5 different attorneys representing 5 different sides of the case! In order to close the case a few things needed to have happened so I scheduled and checked to ensure all things needed was checked off btw my attorney was paid everyone else had the luxury of a free attorney. The days leading into what I was determined to be the last court date my attorney REQUEST MORE MONEY!!!!huh? Explained that emails are billable and phone calls! But he did not answer my emails or phone calls for weeks at a time ! Last day of court HE FAILED TO SHOW STATED HE THOUGHT IT WAS CHANGED TO ANOTHER DAY! My options was to adjourn again or waive the attorney all of the present attorneys said " it's up to you but personally you are a far better attorney anyway". Mind you I am a homemaker with a love of law! So I waived the attorney reviewed, revised contracts on site and CLOSED MY OWN CASE!!!! I AM SHOCKEC AND HURT BY THE LACK OF CARE WORSE LEGAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. But ended well BY THE GRACE OF GOD AND MY LOVE OFLAW!

  My husband and I where falsely accused by disgruntled neighbor to cps .We weren't taken to court or anything but we wanted to make sure and have legal guidance.Starting with the initial appointment which was scheduled for 1pm I called at 12:30 to to see if we could push it up an hour because my husband had a last minute meeting or that I would keep my 1pm and go by myself.He didnt return calls or contact me UNTIL 2:30PM!I should have realized it then.Ok so we ended up meeting with him which im pretty sure it was a free consultation.He seemed Excellent. That night my husband said what if they retaliate*meaning Child services(we read alot on the Internet and where scared confused etc) Anyhow we called him and asked what if they come to take our kids?!He responded well "thats up to you". Right away that was a Red flag..I mean isn't security ,reassurance what he was supposed to provide?I went on and researched hours and came across One of if not THE BEST attorney in nyc .We called her and made an appt My God was she heaven sent!! We had a meeting with cps which was set for that friday *She prepared us guided us and gave us that peace of mind which is what we had paid "George Gilmer "for n he failldd to provide..speaking of..We had asked him if we should go to the meeting and he had said to "let him think"about it:/ after that he didn't return our calls until the morning of the meeting!! After that he went on vacation..when he returned I spoke to him and "he said he was tired" ??I guess from his vacation..ok ill fast forward..He ended up doing absolutely nothing. We ended up with the other attorney paying her as well *BUT She TRULLY EARNS HER $$ and is Honerable .. He on the other hand kept our $

 It should be noted that the poster of this comment was not the one that used my service however I am saddened by the strong language used by this poster and this Reviewer's desire to make me seem like a dishonest person. If I indeed have a dissatisfied former client out there who this situation applies to, please contact me so we can resolve this issue. Furthermore, no complaint has been filed against with the NYS Bar Association, this is a false statement. This review alleges that I was paid $1000 by someone that discontinued my services because of poor repsonsiveness etc. Since I offer some of the lowest fees in the legal community, my office tends to be very busy, and in the past it may have taken a few days for me to get back to clients but since then have added staff to deal with the call volume. I value my reputation, my license, offer some of the lowest fees in the legal community and have worked on 1000s of cases. I wouldn't risk a bad review over $1000 and have no problem refunding money in cases where it is deserved. I have no recollection of this matter as I have not disputed any charges for $1000 in the past two years. I have checked my credit card processing company and have proof of this. So this statement is false. Furthermore, in a situation where someone ends my services before they are terminated they will receive a refund of the unused part of the retainer. That is the law. In the past two years I NEVER have been approached by a client asking for a $1000 refund and have not as stated above disputed anything in that amount. Furthermore, if this anonymous person who has defamed me by calling me a liar reveals his identity I would be happy to resolve any issues that exist. If the bank investigated the issue and ruled in my favor (which hasn't happened on any transaction for a $1000 in the past two years as I haven't disputed a transaction in this amount during this time period) then maybe the bank thought I provided the service as agreed. If this person was not repaid for services that were not completed that they paid for I am happy to refund what is owed to them. This person however, has not contacted me directly about $1000 being owed to them. I don't know who this is. I would like to help to resolve this matter if it exists. The number of false statements contained in this review makes me believe this review is indeed false and thus should be removed.
