I ordered a Tico Calling Card from callingcardplus.com so I could call a close friend who is a soldier in Kuwait. Several times, when attempting to use this card the first time, it wouldn't work or would say I had too many or too little or too many minutes remaining. I called customer service several times about this & all the reps would say is "we'll send a report" EVERY SINGLE TIME. They even asked me for the phone number of the person I was calling so that they could try to use MY calling card to reach them! The two or three times I did finally get the darned thing to work, I talked as much as I could. I purchased 442 minutes, but I understand that I would lose minutes cuz calling Kuwait is expensive, plus it was a mobile phone, etc., etc.

At the end of the month, I got my phone bill from Sprint (this rip-off report is not about them) and I was charged for every single call/attempted call I made to Kuwait with this calling card. I explained the situation to my sprint representative and they said the fact that I received no 1-800 access number seemed suspect and referred me to the fraud department.

In order to resolve the matter, Sprint told me to call the calling card company & have them run a report on the pin # I used because there's no way two phone companies can process the same phone calls. First, I called customer service 1-800-330-5795 and got "Laura" whose supervisor was unavailable for ten minutes. (It's a call center, why would there only be one supervisor?) At first Laura, who barely spoke English, said there was nothing she could do except "run a report" on the card, which she said showed only 58 minutes of use. But I was persistent.

Finally I got a fax number, for some company called Radiant (which she spelled "r-a-d-i-a-n-c-t") and I pushed and pushed until I got a phone number and a contact person (a Mr. William Perez) for them (why should I used my money to fax someone when this mess is already costing me money?). Finally, I called the number for "radiant," but got "reliable telecorp" and had to call three days in a row to get ahold of the elusive "Mr. William Perez." William Perez said I'd only used my calling card for TWO minutes on TWO seperate days & my repeated calls to customer service were also on these same two days (did they bill me for calling THEM?!?!).

I wanted him to send me documentation of this but he said I needed a notarized request (costs more money, theoretically), a front & back copy a government issued I.D. and my calling card and pin. He didn't even say he was sorry that I was having trouble! What a rip off!

calllingcardplus.com did everything to make me unhappy - from the practically incoherent/unintelligible customer service rep, to the unavailable supervisor

Callingcardplus.com should take responsibility for the calls because I WAS using their phone card, and I DID use their phone card properly. In fact, Callingcardplus.com's rep "Laura" did manage to tell me that I used 58 minutes (still wrong, but closer to right) on the calling card, whereas "Mr William Perez" said I only used 2. When I called customer service, I went over all the steps I took to make sure I was doing everything correctly and they CONFRIMED that! No one asked callingcardplus.com to be "liable for anything that happens on (my)line," they just should have been responsible for making sure that the thing worked correctly in the first place! I have an awesome wireless phone service provider (Verizon!!!)and land-based phone service provider (Sprint), both of which did everything in their power to keep me happy as a customer. Verizon especially served me so much that it has made me a customer for life and I have written a letter to their executive office to make sure they know. Meanwhile, calllingcardplus.com did everything to make me unhappy - from the practically incoherent/unintelligible customer service rep, to the unavailable supervisor, to having me call all around the nation, to giving me the run around. They have insured I let everyone I know (including my friend in Kuwait who has since convinced his friends not to shop around for calling cards, based on this bum deal) that they suck and have made certain that I will NEVER be their customer again. There was nothing "reliable" about the service I receieved from Tico Calling Card - CallingCardPlus - Reliable Phone Cards - Reliable Telecorp - Radiant Telecomm. Using callingcardplus.com only cost me the money which I was supposed to save by purchasing a calling card.

Cancel your International long distance service

#3Consumer Suggestion

Wed, September 14, 2005

I would suggest to check your cell phone and home phone plans to ensure that you have no international long distance service. If you have such a plan, I would recommend that you cancel it. Charges by wireless and land-based phone service providers for overseas long distance calls can be unreasonably high. Callingcardplus.com should take no responsibility for the calls go through your long distance plan without using their phone card, or fail to use their phone card properly. They should not be liable for anything that happens on your line as the only service they provide is prepaid phone card service.
