Tiger Direct in conjunction with OnRebate are blatantly taking money. Both companies are owned by the same company, Systemax. Tiger direct offers the rebate then Onrebate files them. Or in this case, fails to file them. Many people are aware of Rebate schemes and the idea of "breakage". This means the company is betting you won't have a UPC code or file late, etc. But Tiger has taken it one step further. They told me my rebate was filed properly and on time they even accepted it. They just refuse to mail a check. What a fraud. I've enclosed correspondence with to executives as proof below.

I understand you have been out of the office and unable to read the email regarding my rebate. None of your coworkers at your affiliate companies have been able to assist me with my missing rebate (that includes the normal channels). Lonny Paul at Tiger Direct was kind enough to reply, however it has been nearly two weeks and i haven't heard anything. And no check. I am resigned to the fact that the entire thing is a scam and i will publicize it as such.

cc: Steven Goldschien, Systemax

My name is

My rebate is Rebate Description: $100 MIR on AVERATEC AV4155 AMD Turion 64 MT-30 1.6GHz / 802.11b/g Wireless / 13.3-Inch WXGA / 512MB DDR2 / 80GB HDD / DVDRW / Windows XP Home / Refurbished Notebook PC

My Rebate Offer: SIG-2164

My Tracking Number: 4QS3*********

My $ 100 rebate was due to me months ago. A customer service representative for your company said they had received it and approved it but had not paid it because either the manufacturer or tiger direct had not paid ONrebate. They said that was not my fault and promised a check would be in the mail. It never arrived.

I am puzzled, for both Tiger Direct and Onrebate are subsidiaries of the same SEC licensed corporation. Since my initial efforts I have only gotten placed on hold and the run around. I see you were able to solve Nicki Thomas problem after she posted on "the rip off report". As of this writing I have also been forced to compose a letter to the rip off report and to: BBB of Southeast Florida, 2924 North Australian Ave, as well as Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Office and ultimately the FTC if need be.

Please re-read section eight of your own corporate ethics policy. Following that, please save us all the trouble of having me pursue these options by simply mailing me a rebate check along with a tracking number. As you can see, my resolve has been demonstrated by this email. it is in everyone's best interest for this to be resolved with expediency. If my tone implies that I am anything less than cordial, I apologize. The large portion of my patience and civility was exhausted by your call staff.

Yours,

Anthony Your company(s) is offering the Rebates, with NO MENTION or disclaimer of third party payment. To try and pass off non-payment on these claims because of problems with YOUR vendors borders on criminal. Explain ONE THING. How can you offer to expedite rebate payments within 5 days if the the person applying pays the 1 dollar fee? How is it that possible, unless YOU are paying the rebate UP FRONT before the vendor reimburses you??? I guess the answer, based on other comments read here, is that you don't even honor the expedited rebates. A class action lawsuit is needed, and Federal regulation is also needed. This is Interstate theft. I had to fight for MONTHS to get my rebates paid, and I will NEVER do business with TigerDirect again.

Ben, As you likely know TigerDirect.com is a reseller and OnRebate.com is a rebate processing company. Your rebate is not sponsored by either TigerDirect.com nor OnRebate.com rather it is sponsored by the supplier from whom TigerDirect.com purchased the rebated product. In your case the supplier is the sponsor and party responsible for funding your rebate. Unfortunately, although OnRebate.com has decisioned and approved your claim the supplier (a client of OnRebate.com) has not funded your rebate and that's why you haven't received payment. I've intentionally left out the supplier's name bacause it's not my intent to bring them ill will from anyone reading this post but their name is listed on your rebate form if you care to know who the supplier is. Having a close working relationship with TigerDirect.com I know that they want to make sure their customers are taken care of so I took the liberty of contacting them on your behalf and TigerDirect.com has volunteered to fund your rebate so that OnRebate.com can pay you and TigerDirect.com will try to recover the funds from the supplier. You should expect payment into your PayPal account in the next few days and very likely as soon as tomorrow 3/23. Kind Regards
