Received a letter from U.S. Department of the Treasury Bureau of the Fiscal Service P.O. Box 1686 Birmingham, AL 35201-1686 (WHICH DOES NOT EXSIST) stating that my Federal Tax Return was applied to U.S. Department of Education FEDERAL OFFSET which that address above is suspect as well.
The letter detaled the exact dollar amount I WAS due to get this year on my Federal Tax Return. I called the IRS and indeed my return is gone. I am in the middle of investigating this and I will run it down to clean up my credit which has been perfect for over 50 years. I or my wife, never took out a college loan.
SCAM! But since the IRS just let this happen, I need to get this settled. Can't believe the IRS is so lame to let this happen. Where is Turmp when you need him. Get the Education Securitary involved.

Turns out, the Department of Education was right and I was wrong (unknowingly). I went by a previous report on here discussing the same circumstances and took that persons word for it that is must be a scam but its not. I was the person who got scammed here.
If you receive a letter from the Department of Treasury stating your tax refund was sent to the Deparment of Treasury to pay a debt and you filed a joint return, talk to your significant other, the truth will come out.
