Bulbs (Lamps) for my Toshiba TLP ET-1 Home Theater Projector are exploding in less than 300 hours, but the estimated life is 3,000 hours (in the low power mode I am using). After the first buld died (between 250-300 hours), I contacted customer support, and they said that bulbs somtimes fail early, but most will last the full lifetime. The warranty on the bulbs is only 90 days, but it took me a year to put 300 hours on the bulb.

I trusted the Toshiba rep, and spent $350 on a new bulb (it took over a month to get the bulb as they were completely out of stock - I should have realized that I was not the only person who was having trouble). My second bulb exploded during a superbowl party with about 250 hours on it. I called Toshiba, and because I couldn't find my receipt, they would not honor the two year warranty to inspect the projector.

Other people have had similar trouble with this model as well. Because I have had trouble with other Toshiba products over the years, and because of my nightmares working with "customer support", I will not purchase a Toshiba product for the next 10 years.

Toshiba is JUNK! And you have to jump through hoops to get anything done. I even paid for an extended warranty and still could not get anything done. I paid $2600 for a Toshiba Satellite Laptop in 2002 and immediately it started getting blue screen errors, etc.. I sent it back 3 times and it still has the same problems. I had to buy another laptop as I needed it to run my business on the road. Come to find out, for them to fix it would have involved changing the mother board which is not cost effective. The Yamaha sound card was incompatible with pre SP2 windows and there was no driver or patch available. To date, there is still no compatible update available for Toshiba to use the Yamaha Sound card in my system, and the sound card is integrated to the mother board! Junk!
