Two years ago, I moved to Temecula and decide that to buy a SUV 4WD so I can take my family travel to camp site, mountain, lake, off-road area. It would be our first time to buy a SUV.

On March 14, 2004, I go to Toyota of Temecula Valley to buy a 4WD SUV, a sales representative show me a brand new 2004 Toyota Sequoia Limited 4WD ( it has a 4WDV8 emblem on the back), it has 2 miles on it, was roomy, and most importantly it has 4WD, perfect for my family for traveling off-road. So I bought it.

Three month later, I brought my car to a car garage to change its oil, a technician ask me did I put the 4WD emblem on my car because it has only 2WD on it, I said I did not, it already there when I bought it and state that I bought a 4WD SUV from a very big reputation dealer, so there are no way they cheated me, after several test, my car is a 2WD SUV.

I still did not believed I got cheated, I think that may be there were a mistake, so I brought it back to the dealer and the dealer manager said he would call Toyota to solve it for me because it is not their responsibility, couple days later, I call him and ask for the result, he said Toyota or Toyota of Temecula Valley will not do any thing for me, because the VIN come up with 2WD on it.

I was frustration and wonder how many people go to a big dealership, buy brand new car and check the VIN number to see how many Wheel Drive or instead look on the emblem on the back of it, the SUV was Brand New, only has 2 miles on it. It was not used on so they can blame on the previous owner for put the 4WD emblem on it.

As the result, I could not take my family to travel many mountain or off-road place like we want before I bought the SUV. The SUV end up sitting in my car garage over 2 years and now it only has 11000 miles.

All I need to know is why would they put a 4WD emblem on a brand new 2 WD SUV and let their sales representative sale it as a 4WD, after that they just ignore their mistake, not willing to help their customer. Also 4WD and 2WD are $2000 different.

Toyota of Temecula is Misrepresentations, False advertising, false labeling, their customer services are not willing to help their customer, 40 something thousand dollars may not mean a lot to you big dealership but to me and my family it is a fortune. I writing this so I hope someone read it and can avoid them.

Look at your buyers order and see if it says 4WD, not the window sticker, the buyers order or financing contract. If either one says 4WD legally they sold you a 4x4 and now owe you a 4x4

First of all, when i come to the dealer I specific ask the sales rep. for the 4WD. I didnot notice because this is my first time buying the SUV 4WD so how do I know there was a 4WD control on it or the whole thing was auto? Why would they give me a brandnew 2WD SUV with 4WD emblem ? and yes, I try to sell back to them and they offer me $20,000 less then what I pay them.

How could you possibly set out to specifically buy a 4WD vehicle, get 2WD, and not realize it until someone told you?! Didn't you take it for a test drive? Didn't you notice that there was no 4WD control in the truck? And seriously, I don't know too many people who take Sequoias offroad. They're too expensive to mess up. You still have a really good vehicle. Why don't you sell it. Toyota maintains incredible value so you may not even lose that much since it only has 11K. It's practically new by Toyota standards.
