If you don't like BILL COLLECTORS calling...then you pay your bills on time. If you don't want your car to be repo'ed...then you pay your bills on time. If you don't want BILL COLLECTORS to call those on your reference list...then you pay your bills on time. If you don't have the money to pay those bills on time...then you go out and get a part time job to supplement your income so you can. And no, YOU didn't "select" then as your lender. You were PLACED with them because the banks don't want you as a customer because YOU gave YOURSELF a documented reputation for NOT paying your bills on time! Sorry Einstein, all the problems you've encountered were NOT caused by others! GROW UP.

Yes, actually, an altenator and brake pads are rather more important than making the payment on time when this is your only means of transportation to and from work--without THAT there is no way to make your payments at all. What I find unethical is their lack of communication and willingness to work with you...as I said, I had paid 75% of the loan already on time, with extra towards the priciple each month, so to me this shows a company that does not give a rats youknowwhat about their customers. So I need to grow up and am completely at fault because my company closed and my income was cut by half? This is a company that called and left messages and discussed my financial business with them with everyone who was on my reference list--all immediately after leaving a message for me--not even waiting an hour for me to return a call--if a doctors office or your daily bank did this, would that not be considered unethical and illegal? I honestly do understand their point of view as well and know they have heard everything but when someone who has had a stellar history with them calls and explains the situation AND offers up a solution to resolve the issue, as well as willing to provide physical proof of these claims, a good company would work with you. The fact that "James" said he would call back, that we should be able to work something out, etc. and did not follow up shows that they are encouraged to lie.

In early 1996, United Auto Credit was established as a primarily non-prime auto lender.
It would appear you had to deal with a deadbeat lender due to your previous credit history.
They do NOT believe all the excuses they've already heard hundreds of times and only want you to live up to the agreement YOU signed.
As long as you display this casual attitude about your payments, you will continue to have this happen.
The Ripoff here is YOU not living up to your SIGNED agreement.
"I should also mention that the reason I fell behind in the first place was because I had to put in a new altenator and brake pads..."
I guess the alternator and brake pads were more important than making your payments...I'd bet they were
really sympathetic when you told them the reason.
"I have learned my lesson to ALWAYS do some research on a company prior to signing the papers as this ended up costing me my new job as well because I ended up with no way to get to work which was 60 miles away."
What would you be looking for in your "research"...a lender who will let you set your own payment terms? Not going to find one of those..grow up.

Repossession of a vehicle due to buyer default is not unethical.
