Stay Away Stay Away!!!! from Uniway Of Columbus, Ga !!! .....

Please stay the heck away from Uniway... I got suckerd into signing away approx. $3000 by the crooks...I went to try to win a PT Cruiser..Supposedly we would get a chance to win the car after the tour. Well following the tour and and hardball salesman tactics by their salesmen..we were given keys to try to start the PT Cruiser...But guess what...we were not taken to the car to try the key. We were brought a supposeded replica of the ignition lock to try our key on..

You know the rest of the story...Stupid me huh...Please stay away from these crooks..If you have a similar story about Uniway. I am concerned that Uniway is targeting low income families that have know way of paying the membership fees, but are lured with the false impression that they are gonna win a car.

Please email me [via RoR - Email address removed by MSP] we are no gonna let these crooks get away with this.

For the person that replied and said they don't "randomly pick people", you're full of it. I received a call out of the blue to set up an appointment to come in... Had to bring my wife, as they only allow couples. We went in, they did their magnificent song and dance, we were blinded and temporarily impressed with how much we could save, and as a bonus, we had 3 business days to cancel if we changed our mind. The next morning we went out and took a look at the items we were shown and found out the same quality and brands could be had elsewhere for the same price or lower WITHOUT buying a membership. I immediately filled out the contract cancellation form on the back of our agreement, went to the post office and sent it express mail overnight with a return receipt. It was delivered the next day... the 2nd business day of the contract. I received a phone call wanting to know my reasons and I explained that I could get the items for the same or lower prices and not be saddled with any membership fees. they thanked me for considering them and that was that. 6 months later, I get a letter in the mail, certified, stating I was in default of my contract, wanting the full amount of the membership paid, and it "claimed" to be from an attorney... funny, the address was the same as the Uniway store in Greenville, SC. and the attorney's name was remarkably the same as the manager of that Uniway office. After several phone calls to them and being hung up on, I contacted the state attorney general's office and the BBB. I provided a xerox copy of my cancellation form, a copy of the receipt for the Express mail, the return receipt, and a copy of the proof of delivery for the express mail. about 2 weeks later I received a NASTY letter from the manager of the Uniway office stating that because of all the "threats" I made to them thru the Attorney Generals office they would let me out of my contract. Mighty nice of them since I cancelled it according to SC state law 6 months earlier! They are a RIPOFF avoid them!

Okay I am also an ex employee but I also bought a membership before I worked there, if things were ran correctly and the manager's of the department's were able to run their department's then I believe things would be better, I do know for a fact you can save thousands but like Christy said we all know where the money's going! They have a great staff that are under paid and over worked, that is exactly why I left. Orders aren't being placed but alot of that is blamed on the service center manager when it's not HER fault she has to have permission to place the order! It's going to take alot of cussing on your part to get your order in. To anyone ordering from the Columbus branch and you are not getting the answers you've requested my suggestion would be to call the corporate office in Atlanta. As far as the pricing is concern if your not comparing apples to apples then your not really seeing the savings I know there are some things that just wont compare but you really could save thousands. Alot of people get really frustrated that they cant see, touch, or feel when ordering out of a catalog well go to your local furniture stores pick out something, make sure you have the brand and number so you can go to Uniway and see your savings. Just beware your order will NOT be on time!!! Don't think that members are treated any differently than the employees because in my experience we weren't! In other words we feel just as mistreated as you the member on your late orders. haven't you noticed that most of the staff is women, so there won't be any back talk...what says goes. keep this in mind when getting mad at the service center employees...it is out of their control!!! Be persistant with your refund.

How dare you people who still work for that company defend it! You know as well as I do that what goes on there is not fair nor is it legal! For one thing...their collection department is using "false" information by posing as a lawyer! That right there is a lawsuit! To the lady who works at one of the locations who defended why there is no car on site....THERE IS NO CAR...THERE IS NO CASH MONEY...YOU KNOW THERE ISN'T!!!!!!!!! True...they give you a vacation voucher...but thats balogna too. You can "win" those with any of these phone scam things....you pay for the trip, you have to have a credit card, you must make reservations well in advance...if the rooms are booked...OH WELL! If you want a nicer room...YEP>>>>>YOU PAY FOR IT! It's bull!!! The bracelets are bought in bulk by a cheap $%# company. They may cost Uniway $2.00 each!!! YEP that's right! Oh yeah...you sure do pay to join Sams...but not no $2000.00 or up!!! and tires??? THAT'S HILARIOUS!!! I called (thru a member) to purchase them....got the price. Called the same place for the same tires and was quoted the SAME price! NO SAVINGS ON TIRES! I know a member who was building a house, her carpet, tile, etc....Lowes gave her a better deal on everything.. All Uniway could say was "well, since you were buying so much!!!" My friend was suckered into a membership, and they wanted a new lawnmower...yeah...you guessed it. The ONLY mower they could even get was Murray...and yep....WALMART was cheaper! They admitted to her they can't beat WalMart on the mowers, cause they buy in bulk!!! She got her outdoor furn. from Sears cheaper too! UNIWAY is crap and you employess KNOW IT!

Truth about Uniway

First off, Uniway would be a great deal if the company actually did what they offer in their tour. You could really save money and get really good deals. The problem is half the time your order never comes in. They already extend their "lead time" by as much as 4-6 weeks longer than it actually takes. Everyone who has worked for Uniway and is still working there knows the truth about what goes on there. I don't see how they have remained in business as long as they have. To all the employees who have submitted a positive rebuttal was still currently employed there and it was carefully thought out and prepared by the owner and employee together. I know this for a fact. It shocked me that they were willing to write what they did knowing what they know. No, they do not target low income families but the sad thing is most of Uniway's employees don't even make enough to "so-call qualify" to be a member there. Some people have actually been smart and tried to take action for not receiving their order when they are promised but the owner will make it better for that particular customer and it gets dropped, over and over again. Ft. Benning has tried to get Uniway on the black list and hopefully they will be able to do so in the near future. I have done a lot of research on the Uniways that are still open, hoping that it was just this particular branch but it seems to go on at most of them. They had that PT Cruiser for over 2 years before they were legally required to give it away. The whole 25,000 thing just gives them years to run their scams. Think about it, all they have to do is sell 14 memberships to cover their promotion, the rest is theirs to keep. They do not make money in their purchasing dept but then again...where does all the money go when people's orders are not being placed for months after they paid for it? Yes, you are given two other prizes for your time but it's a cheap braclet and a vacation that you also have to sit through yet another meeting for that company. It's just best that you stay away from this company. Like I said it would be a wonderful thing to be a member of if it was operated the way it was suppose to be! Also, as far as the credit thing goes. You can relax, they are no longer allowed to report this debt to Equifax!

I have been with Uniway for about seven years and have had no bad issues at all. In fact I have saved tons of money and have nothing but praise. Sure it does cost money to join as do most places, such as Sams or Costco, but the savings in the end are worth it...read your contract before you sign it. I pay only $75 a year for my membership. Here are some examples of items I bought: 1) Computer Desk $200, same exact desk at Office Depot $800. 2) Tires $105/ea, same exact tires at Discount tire $220/ea. 3) I went with my friend that bought a new S10 through them and saved $7000. And the list goes on. In closing, the stupid shall be punished. Read and know what you are getting into before you sign. I did and would recommend Uniway.

Having worked there I can tell you that you would either be randomly called or nominated... then offered a CHANCE to win your choice of the car or cash(the reason they dont have the car there)! You also win 1 or 2 more giifts just for coming in! The MAJOR qualification that must be met is that you make at least $30,000 yrly. I dont see how you can say they target low income families. Your $3000 you spent may be more appreciated if you took the time to look at some catalogs. The only reason you would be mad about buying the membership is if you never used it. It pays for itself. It sells itself. You didn't get suckered!

The Only People Foolish Are....

The Fools are those who join and work for Uniway. After our little tour and trying to unlock the tincan door, we took the rest of our saturday, my wife and I, and went comparison shopping. NONE of the items the sales person used to compare were 1) the prices he used to compare or 2) even sold at the place of busienss. We were showns somw tables from Home Depote (they do not carry) and some knives from wal-mart that were cheaper tnan Uniway was trying to sell them for but said walmart sold them for an amount 3 times as high. What did I get from my Saturday morning at Uniway? A good laugh at how silly the sales person is. A cheap tennis bracelet that saves me the time to buy a birthday present for a relative who won't know any better. And a morning out of the house. So, I guess I should THANK uniway for those three things. You can keep your scam by the way.

You have written this dispute seemingly with no other comlaint than you didn't win the PT Cruiser. I am going to assume you aren't smart enough to read the odds in that contest. Try about 1 in 25,000. If you seriously thought you were coming to pick up a "FREE CAR" you are a poor pitiful thing. When you came in to tour Uniway...even if you decided it wasn't for you, you still walked away with something...and you wasted an hour of everyone at Uniway's time. It's people like you who absolutley disgust me. And further more if you think Uniway "targets" low income people you are also sadly mistaken. This company is in NO way trying to take money from people who don't have it. You act like they are hard up for members. Well Ill tell you that the Uniway in Rock Hill,SC alone has over 10,000 members. And thats just one store. Why don't you go find a hobby instead of complaining just to complain. Its people like you that sue McDonalds over a hot pickle, and sue every doctor that makes the slightest mistake which causes medical expenses to sky rocket for the rest of us. Shame on you!
