We scheduled bills to be paid thru US Bank's online bill pay service. Historically, there have been two bills that when they are paid, for some reason they don't clear for at least a week. So, I scheduled them to be paid exactly one day prior to my electronic paycheck being credited to my account (the payment is actually there one day in advance, according to our accounting dept., but the bank won't acknowledge it). So guess what they did? They issued the checks the beginning of that week, dated them that Friday and sent them out several days before their scheduled issue date. As a result, the billers received these checks and cashed them two days before they were even supposed to have been issued. I have copies of the checks which are dated the 15th but the endorsement and deposit stamps on the back are dated the 13th. Of course, since my paycheck was not yet credited. they charged me a returned check fee for one of the checks and an overdraft fee for the other. I have documentation of when I requested these payments be made, as well as copies of the checks and the endorsements that show the billers received the checks and cashed them at least two days prior to the checks issue date (how does one cash a check on the 13th when the check is dated the 15th?). So another way to make it look like we can't keep our account in the black.

Needless-to-say, I am canceling the bill pay through them. I would rather sit and right checks out by hand. We are also going to start using our credit union account exclusively. I think we need a class action suit against them. Anyone attorney and other victims interested?

I don't mean to be rude, but you (albeit indirectly) wrote a check before you had the money in your account. The merchant is guaranteed those funds in hand by USB by the date you put in on your bill pay. USB has no control over when they cash them, whether it's before or after the day you want. By the way, not all merchants and creditors take electronic payments. Also something USB can't control.
