First the Telephone rings...a heavily accented woman, whom I could not understand at all, calls and after speaking for a short time, she put me on with her Supervisor.

He starts to explain about 24 hour protect plus and privacy matters, neither of which I wanted. I stated that this sounds like a rip off to me, a fly by night operation and I want nothing to do with it, and then I hung up.

Then less than a half an hour a man named Mike Williams called back. He starts to try and explain that his business wasn't a fly by night business.

He said that I could even check the Better Business Bureau and he was affended to hear anything negative towards his business. I was shocked that a tele-marketer called back to try and persuade me to buy his product.

He went on to explain that I would recieve a 25 dollar gas card and a 25 dollar gift card to Walmart for only a 1.95 that would be charged to my credit card and then be taken off. I would need to call and cancel memberships within 30 days in order to get my gift cards.

He assured me that this was a win win situation and that I could not lose.

In the mail comes forms that I had to fill out and send in so that I could get the gift cards. Of course I had to pay postage.

Weeks later Mr Williams calls me back and says they sent them to the wrong P.O. Box so they canceled my gift cards.

He stated that I had to through the membership questions again for Budget Travel and Healthy Rewards, 24 hour protect plus. So I did because this would be the only way to get the gift cards. He said that I would get them the following Monday.

Meanwhile the originals appeared in my P.O. Box that had already been canceled.

I received membership paperwork stating that I had to be enrolled in Budget Travel in order to receive the 25.00 gas card. Which costs 24.95 a month!

Nothing mentioned about the 25.00 gift card to Walmart.

So in order to get 25.00 you have to pay 24.95+ 1.95+ postage.

What a rip off.

Stay clear from this company.

Value Benefits of America is not a scam or rip off

Value Benefits of America has several membership benefits that are an excellent value for the money. When a telemarketing representative calls regarding our various programs, they will offer free gifts to consumers while on the phone as an incentive to look over our benefits during a trial period. While the membership benefits are excellent, they may not be for everyone. If a consumer wants to cancel, we will cancel. This complaint states that our toll free number was disconnected. We have had the same toll free number for customers to reach us since the program was started. It also sounds like this complaint may have other company benefits involved that are not related to Value Benefits of America. I am not familiar with Budget Travel and Healthy Rewards. They are not part of our program. Again, Value Benefits of America is not a fly by night operation and our goal is to have our members happy and satisfied with the benefits we provide. If at any time a member wishes to cancel, they can call our toll free number and cancel the benefits. The telemarketing rooms only process orders when they receive a definite yes answer to proceed. If someone doesn't feel comfortable with the offer, they should simply hang up.
