About a year ago, I wanted to get hold of a subtitled copy of one of my favorite anime movies, "Macross: Ai, Oboete Imasu Ka?", aka "DYRL". I wanted to avoid the horribly dubbed versions "Clash Of The Bionoids" (censored version) and "Super Space Fortress Macross", because the dub's voice acting was, with one word, atrocious. After doing a little research, I found that a subtitled copy was released by Kiseki Films and was available from Video Store Cult.
Being in Europe, I needed a PAL system copy. So, I ordered a PAL system copy of DYRL... Just to be sure, I even emailed them noting that I needed a PAL copy. And I received DYRL, a few weeks later, but I found out that it was a NTSC copy, which would NOT play on PAL video cassette recorders. I immediately contacted VSC, to be assured that a PAL copy would be sent to me right away. I'm still waiting for it, although I've contacted them about 10 times. I was using another email address then.
At any rate, I eventually found that a friend of mine has a VCR capable of playing NTSC cassettes, so not much harm was done. The thing is, though, that VSC's customer care is lousy. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone.
Oh, by the way, I'd like to take this occasion to say that Kiseki Films made an extremely disappointing subtitling of DYRL. As a matter of fact, this was NOT a sub, but a parody. Especially in the scene where Hikaru Ichijyo and Lynn Minmay are stranded somewhere in the SDF-1 Macross' engine blocks, Hikaru was supposed to be saying "We fell in the engine block", but the Kiseki sub says... "MY ENGINE BLOCKS ARE ANGRY AT ME"!
