Before you pay ANYTHING to a debt collector, you need to find out the following: Is what you owe still in the statute of limitations? Does a collection agency need to be licensed in your state to collect and, if so, are they? Do you have anything in writing from this collection agency that proves they actually own the debt? Have you sent them a letter, certified mail, return receipt requested, demanding validation of the debt? Are they on your credit reports? I applaud you wanting to pay for a bill you owe, however, you should also get IN WRITING from Viking that if and when you pay this bill in full with the amount due clearly stated, that it will be a PAY FOR DELETE (in other words, it will be removed from or never put on your credit report). Good luck.
