Vortex Industries, Inc. / VORTEX / Vortex Doors False Charges for Services NOT Rendered Pasadena California
I called Vortex on 8/6/14 to repair rollers on dining room pocket doors. The operator noted that they were an industrial company, but that they could make a residential call. (They did not mention their service charge of $175.00, or I would have declined and called someone else.) The service contractor arrived two days later. He pulled the pocket doors off the sliders and placed the doors on the floor. He removed one roller. This took 20 minutes. He left our home for over an hour without saying where or why he was leavining. When he returned, he reported that he was not able to locate the rollers. We signed off the service order. He left and did not even move the doors from the floor in the middle of the door way where he had left them.
Later we received a bill for $310 for "Attempted to replace damaged rollers & Performed standard quality assurance & safety check". Bill included charges for 2 1/2 labor hours and travel time. I called the 1-800 number on the bill to compain. We have had three conversations, but they continue to insist that they must charge for the service call and hours even if the repair was not completed, and the hours charged were off-site.
I would agree to pay for the service charge even though that was not explained to me. However, the other charges are false as no repair was made nor can I vouch for how time was spent off site.
