Complaint Review: Wal-Mart #1843 - McMinnville Oregon

Here's a suggestion that will save you time and frustration in the future Norm:

Instead of ripping the desired car from the employee's hands, why not try offering her a dollar or two to sell it to you? Even if you gave her two bucks for it and paid another 97cents at the register, it's still less than the five dollars you claim these sell for online, and for a couple of bucks, you would have made a friend who would have remembered you and been willing to hold on to special items for you if you'd toss her a couple bucks from time to time. It could be a win-win situation, as well as proving civility is alive and well, even at Mall Wart.

Had either the poster or the comonhers read their handbooks for being a human being, they would have all gotten exactly what they needed to work this thing out. Unfortunately, there is no book written in decipherable person or tenses, yet this web site's spell checker accounts for capitalization (UNfortunately has a read squiggly but not Unfortunately)

hmmmm, sounds like a good example of complete lack of proper priortization when a site implements a logical spell checker before it publish's a guide to being a satisfactory immediately living human being in perpetuity. 

so in clucosion, the answer to my comments question is, yes, must definitely something can be done HOWEVER I am not sure anyone is going about it in an afficiently  mannered mode of way.

I've had 4 people fired from the Amelia Walmart short stocking! And i'm not done. I have been going there for 5 years, i have never found a treasure hunt hot wheel at that store,Never!!! So i went to work to bust the stockers taking all the chase cars. When i turn the 4 in, i found 4 treasure hunts that week, and a super hunt. I'm sick of you stockers thinking you can get away with this sh*t. There is nothing right about it at all. And yes we are making a big deal out of this. They cost $.97 at walmart and $5.00 and up online. Thats why you sorry a** stockers take them!!!!

This is the first time I have seen someone publically post that they are jealous of Wal-Mart employees. Post after post arrives here at ROR with such heartfelt sympathy, such dedicated passion about the horrible hours, lousy wage, no benefits, poor treatment of employees, how no-one can afford to live working at Wal-mart and on and on and on... Not from THIS post! Now we HATE the employees because they get a perk. Working in retail DOES suck sometimes. I wonder what its like to earn 6-7 bucks an hour to have toy cars grabbed from you from a customer. So PARDON THEM if they grab themselves a deal when it presents itself. Good greif, are you people really that greedy that you MUST have equal access to all deals? I'll bet you get mad when someone buys something from a garage sale a minute before you pull up in your car and see the item sitting there while its being paid for. If it wasn't for that stupid red light, it would have been yours!

Jessica I now there are a few super centers in Oregon, but have you been paying attention to the news. Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Gresham, Tillamook are not allowing Wal-Mart to build. The Wal-Mart in McMinnville doesn't have vehicle service area; the city didn't want them to compete with companies like Oil Can Henry's. As far as finding my collectibles, I do find items at I find them when I go to Salem and Portland at Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, and other stores. I personally don't think I should drive that far. Handbooks: in almost every company's Policy there is some clause about behavior detrimental to company's public image. This is where indirectly comes in. I'm not saying it's only Wal-Mart; it can be any store, but really bad when it's one of the only stores in town. I used to live in Portland, there were both type of stores there. The Stores that were honest sold a lot more toys than the stores that let the employees get all the collectible items. Most collectors die cast make between 20,000 to 100,000 a year and spend 50 to 1000 dollars a month on there hobby. Most of them like to find their own items.

The toy store i worked at had nothing in teh "handbook" stating that we must put every toy out on the floor The handbook did not state that we must cater to every customers whim. The handbook did say that it we wanted to take advantage of our discount, then we pay for items when we are off the clock (meaning any breaks, or before/after our shift). Again, norm, if you're spending that much time in a WALMART to stake out the "new" toy releases (which you are depriving of children), then its not US who needs a life.

Norm- There are a couple of Walmart Supercenters in our area that are open 24 hours. ( I live in Newberg Oregon) There is at least 2 i know of in Salem and one in Woodburn. These are in your area and are open 24 hours but I guarentee you they also do their stocking during the night hours so you'd probably be complaining about the same things happening at those locations. As for you thinking that walmart has a hard time opening stores in your area I think thats crap. Walmart would lose hundreds of thousands of dollars if they built a store in a town like willamina, sheridan, dayton etc...They are too small of towns to draw the crowds that walmart needs to keep its prices low. PS.. why dont you get your collectables online or at some other store if you have such a problem getting them?

If the employees that have responded to this post read their employee handbooks, they will find that there are company policies directly or indirectly dealing with this problem. All retailers have is creditability to the general public and if employees go against what the store puts out for public relations. In my area Wal-Mart has a really hard time putting in new stores, especially Supercenters, any bad press is another hurdle they have to jump or fire to put out. Many retail store have put policies in place where employees can't buy merchandise until it's been on the floor for 24 hours and fire anyone who breaks this policy, including management. As far as low wages and bad treatment maybe you should look for what else is out there and justifying your bad behavior with what they are doing to you!!!

Working at Wal-Mart doesn't come with the best pay, benefits or treatment. Back-stocking might be annoying to you, but like it's already been said, employees are customers too. For you to go in and take a toy that a working employee has said she's getting, totally fine. It's understandable that you'd be upset, but it's not a ripoff. It's against store policy, but managers do it too. Good luck getting anything done about it... but I don't think you'll get a lot of help from filing a report here.

This happesn all the time. If not saving it fro the "employee" but for a customer. Why do you thinks this is not fair? Its a "first come first served" business, and an employee is STILL A customer if they buy the item they "held". I am a toy collector myself, and the store I worked for always got shafted on a lot of the toys. If we only received 5 boxes of the newest action figure, and in all of those boxes, only 1 "special" figure was included, I knew that "hey, I better hang onto this before someone else grabs it". That's THE PERKS of working for a retail store. YOU get first dibs on any item. NOTHING wrong with that, and certainly nothing illegal as well. Dont like it? Tough. Get a job with that store or company, or become good friends with the STAFF, so that you can request "certain" toys to be held on the side for you when they come in. Nothing in the "laws" state that they MUST put every "toy" on the sales floor that they receive in. As for you "acosting" the employee, boy you were wrong on that part. So what if she was going to buy it? She could have held it to buy it on her LUNCH BREAK, or even after she gotten off. To deny her that opportunity, or even TO explain that toy ou, you were in the wrong. What if she was trying to hold it for another customer who had called ahead to see if they had it? Not only you just costed her a sale, you took away and opportunity for another customer (who proibably didn't treat her like you did) from getting that item. as for them "grabbing" all the good "clearance items", when they ARE OFF THE CLOCK. too bad so sad for you. If yo uwant the 'perks' then WORK for Walmart. Otherwise, you need to find a better way of spending your time, as it sounds, you live at Walmart. Get a life.
