Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

i called wal*mart on 1/8/10 to find out if they had a flat twin air mattress, and what was the price. they informed me that they had what i asked for. so i left to check them out right after i hung up from the sales person. i saw the product so i purchased it  with my dept. card. it cost me 39.99+tax=42.76. this was about 6:30pm. when i got home i blew the bed up & 30min. later the air seeped out. i said to myself oh no this is not happening. so i blew the bed up again. of course the same thing happened again, air seeped out flat as flat can be. by that time i was floored. so the next day i went to return the air mattress with receipt in hand, in the original box packed very neetly this was about 2:30pm. 1/09/10. when i got to customers services. i asked for a refund of my money. i was told (we do not give refunds on air mattresses, you can have a store credit. i said, ( i just purchased this mattress less than 24 hours and its seeping air).

they said (well thats our policy on air mattresses). i said to them (how come i was not told of your policy when i purchased the mattress). they said to me (there are signs all over the store). i said to them (i didn't see any signs) i did not see any signs on the display where the air mattresses where, just the prices. i saw a sign on the wall at customers service when i went to return it, but the fine print was so small it would take a magnifine glass to read it. i feel like i was ripped off. because i returned other items in that store before with no problem of getting a cash refund. what makes this item so particular from the rest? i can tell you why. because there no d**n good. and wal*mart knows that. so they have this bogis policy on these faulty air mattresses. i want my money back. i don't want store credit, so they can be happy with not loosing money. they should stand behind the junk they sell to the customer. i don't want any credit to bye more junk. please if you can help me get my money back, i will be one happy customer. thank you, rl

OK...well if you buy an air mattress and it is loosing air I wouldn't have the reaction "Oh no this is not happening!"...it seems like you are being over dramatic....if a company makes 100 Million of those things in a year a few are bound to have leaks....come on get real. I myself have owned probably 6 or 7 different air mattresses from wal-mart....I have used them for everything from road trips to pool toys, and they have all been great. In fact the one we used as a pool toy we had a contest to see if anyone COULD pop it by diving into it and nobody could.....so I completely reject your categoric statment that the matresses are "junk" you just happened to get a bad one. I have had many that have held up under suprisingly rough treatment.

As far as the policy goes, it is fair. Air Mattresses are basicaly expensive balloons, and of course they are prone to popping. And most people only need them for one or two nights. It is the kind of thing that would get returned ALL THE TIME if there wasn't a policy on that. Who would really "buy" one when you could just get one, sleep on it for a few nights, and return it when you were ready to go back home. The policy is in place for a reason.

As far as the policy not being displayed....well the policy IS displayed at the customer service desk as a general rule...but in a place like wal-mart...where they sell  EVERYTHING....there will be different policies for housewares, electronics, potting soil, food, ect. ect. ect......it is not the job of the store to wall-paper their isles with big giants signs that explain everything....it is YOUR job to be an informed consumer and ask.

And if you REALLY needed another mattress....then what was so bad about them offering you an exchange....it sounds to me like you are just being a jerk.

Because there are people who buy an Air Matress one day, use it for one night because they have guests.  Then they try and return it the next day saying it was damaged.  Since they no longer have the guests, they don't want to exchange it but want their money back.

By the way most Wal-Marts that I am aware of close pretty late and some are open 24 hours a day.  So if you did this about 7pm(per your report you bought it at 6:30 and blew up the bed 30 minutes later).  You had plenty of time to exchange it that night.  Which based on your report and the rush you went through to buy it seems like you needed it that night.

Now, I am not saying that you did this.  But that is the reason the policy was put into place.  This is similar to people buying a Big Screen TV the day before the Superbowl and then returning it the Monday after.
