I shop at two different Winn Dixies in the Tampa Bay area, one in Apollo Beach for personal reasons and the other in Sun City Center for business reasons only. I work 12 hour shifts straight with no break caring for a bedridden elderly woman who happens to live a couple of blocks away from the store. Let me tell you, those two stores, although the same company has a world of difference. The one in Apollo Beach cleaned up and remodeled, they installed a few more self-checkout registers, which took some getting used to. The employees will assist you in bagging the groceries I am generally pleased with them. Sometimes, they will greet you and sometimes, not.

Now, as for the one in Sun City Center. First of all, like I said, I provide in-home care for a bedridden woman. She has a Power of attorney deal with all of her financial situations, including signing checks for groceries. This has been going on for almost ten years. One day, out of the blue, after years of accepting a check every week for groceries, the store decides that they cannot accept the check. A few days later, that situation was rectified. Now, this is what gets to me. I shop at the Sun City location for the elderly woman at the end of one of my shifts every week during the late evening/early night. So, as a result, after 12 hours, I am tired, hungry, and want to go home to feed and spend some time with my family like the rest of us. I absolutely hate it when I have a cart full of groceries with heavy items like water, laundry soap, and so on, and I see three or four people, including managers standing at the next register with no other customers talking to each other like there is nobody else there. I don't expect them to talk to me like a human, but what they could do is to help me bag my groceries. I can walk them to my car by myself. It's one thing if I had a few groceries, but a shopping cart full. I mean, come on, are they so dense that they can't walk ten or so feet, open a plastic bag, pick up an item, and put it in the bag and then into an empty cart, with items like bread and eggs on top, and at the same time continue on with their conversation with each other. I know that it can be done, because they have done it in Apollo Beach. I know some of you might say, well why just go to the other one, the reason is simple, the woman of whom I am shopping for lives just a short distance away and I don't want to use any more gas than I have to. I just had to complain that one other thing and appreciate the time you took to read this.
