I contacted "The Landscape" on July 10th, 2007 after the seat part to a Pinehurst Woodard Chair (that I purchased on 8/13/05) broke during a 4th of July get together. The mesh from the cast iron seat pulled away from the frame. When I left the first message, the Landscape was cordial, and I believed my inquiry regarding the warranty and/or repair information would be honored. I called on the 16th and the Landscape denied selling me the furniture at all! I e-mailed my response to them because I wanted to keep a record of our communication (the girl who I was dealing with was fresh with me). I told the Landscape that I had purchased the furniture on August 13, 2005 and that the warranty via the website states "When you purchase Woodard, you purchase a history of quality and excellence, and furniture that will last well into the future." The chair broke in less than two years.

AFter my initial inquiry, the Landscape fell of the face of the earth. Then they started telling me that they needed to hear from their distributor about the issue (two weeks between each message). I finally got in touch with the distributor or Woodard Furniture (who were Wonderful!). I put it to them and let the matter to rest in the hopes that the two companies could come up with an answer to my warranty question and help me with my chair.

Woodard Furniture started saying that they were waiting for the Landscape. And the Landscape said that they were waiting for Woodard Furniture. It was then that I knew I had to get the BBB involved. The response from the BBB was the following:

"The Better Business Bureau has presented your complaint to The Landscape in an attempt to resolve this matter to your mutual satisfaction. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, this matter appears to remain unresolved."

Woodard Furniture contacted me recently and told me that the furniture I purchased from the Landscape was discontinued and/or obsolete. They offered to provide me with a chair that looks nothing like my set, but I don't really have a choice do I?

I asked the Landscape to provide me with the store receipt which states that my furniture was Pinehurst Woodard Cast Iron furniture. The company replied that they did not have that. I copied the same request to Woodard Furniture (blind copy) and was provided almost immediately with the Landscape invoice, which the Landscape had provided with Woodard Furniture for the warranty claim.

I don't understand why this company, the Landscape, took such an obtuse angle on this matter. I have never been rude to them. I have only asked them questions about the warranty of my furniture. Bottom line is that they figured if they did not respond that I would go away. The set was about $800 retail (which is not chump change). Was I supposed to throw it away because one chair broke? That was a very stupid business practice. I will be buying more Woodard Furniture but not from the Landscape (www.thelandscape.com), because quite frankly "they stink" and their tactics are low end.
