Bought a multifunctional printer M-940 from Xerox. Had to call them the first week after setting it up because the computer started to freeze up. Was told that the printer does not work with the USB cable and I should buy a special serial cable for $ 50.
Within 10 month I spent about 6 hours on the phone because of continuing problems with the printer. After 10 months and having print about 700 pages, it started to cut the letters of and print white horizontal lines going through the letters. Xerox advized I should change the print head for $ 50 on my own cost. The print head should last aprx. 10.000 pages, (catalog description)
Warranty card gives 12 month warranty on the printer and excludes the ink tanks. Asked Xerox to tell me where they say that the printhead is not covered under the 12 month warranty. Did not get an answer. Instead they declared the print head as a "consumable". I am wondering when car manufacturers come up with the argument that the engine is not covered under warranty because it is a "consumable" and can fail any time.
I am giving anybody who considers buying a printer to avoid Xerox under any circumstances !
