Yecup Defective Product and Item not Received Internet
I was one of the original contributors for the KickStarter Yecup. I purchased two - one for my wife and one for me. Somewhere down the road, the price was increased however I was not notified of additional monies required.
Eventually, several months ago, after an email inquiry, I was told that they were shipped. I only received one and was told by email since the currect price was considerably more, I 'got a good deal' and that after all other orders were shipped, they would see about sending me the other one. So much for early supporter appreciation.
The cup is disappointing. The capacity was reduced from 14 oz. to a bit over 12 oz, not enough for a full can of soda. Additionally, because a milestone was met, the base was supposed to screw off in order to change batteries. It does not as it is glued on.
My cup does not cool. It does heat as it should. I notified them in their comments section on KickStarter and was asked to try different volumes of liquid, stir the contents, and shake the contents. I'm not making a martini here. In all cases, the content's temperature increased to the ambient room temperature - from approximately 60F to 78F while the battery gradually depleted. Absolutely no cooling occurred. Any further communication ceased. I also complained by email, got an email back suggesting I try the above tests. After sharing that no cooling happened, once again all email ceased.
It appears that now, any complaints on the KickStarter Yecup comments site are being deleted.
Further, since they do not have a physical presence in the US, any returns for replacement (if possible) would be at the recipient's expense, I'm guessing.
While I can use the Yecup for coffe, it is engraved with my wife's name. She would use it for cold drinks where she works and does not drink hot beverages.
