Bought a High performance Nor-tech boat from Randy Sweers at FB Marine Group for $185,000 in Nov 2019.  Here it is mid June 2020 and still have not received any title or paperwork including maintenance records on boat or trailer.  Randy insisted he ought to go through engines and complete normal service as well as the trailer brakes, bearings etc.

I traveled from FL to IN with no trailer brakes.  On my second venture out the engine burned a piston and will cost about $29,000 to rebuild.  I was able to only run engine 1.4 hours before this happened on a small inland lake just above cruising speed for this boat.

I cannot haul the boat legally without a title/registration.  I cannot sell the boat without a title/registration.  I cannot drive the boat due to engine failure.  I was sold a bad boat that Randy Sweers said was good.  During a quick test drive a month after purchasing the boat the engine smelled like burning oil to the point you could smell it in our clothes hours later.  Sirens and buzzers sounded during the ride as well.  I was told they were normal cautionary buzzers.  I believe Randy knew it was on its way out.

FB Marine Group and Randy Sweers is either dishonest or doesn't know much about marine mechanic and simple trailer work.  Probably not the company I want selling me another expensive boat and or working on a yacht or super boat.  FAIR WARNING BUYER BEWARE!!!.

I own a small trucking company and am going to run about 6 semi trailers OTR in lower 48 states with a similar message.  Better to have been honest.

KIm Sweers avoiding necessary paperwork

I asked KIM SWEERS. FB marine group owner about my trailer title and she did Not respond. 5 days later I caught her at the store and she ran out and told me ashely England (Randy’s personal secretary) was coming in with title work and records. Ashely knew nothing about it. I stood around for a couple hours before traveling to the other FBG location.

I had to work hard just to find my boat and track it down. No paperwork no trailer brakes and no way to get anything worked on because Sweers wouldn’t answer my calls and shop personnel didn’t know what to say. I paid $1500 for trailer brakes and bearings to be replaced and they didn’t work. These are just a few of the issues I had to deal with at FBG. There are multiple complaints with the state of Florida about randy sweers

FBG now wanting to sue for exposing the way they do business

When I bought the bot randy sweers never mentioned it was a USCG documented vessel. I was under the assumption I would be given the title when we came to test drive. The trailer title is also a big issue. That has nothing to do with the USCG. It’s now almost July and I purchased nice 21st. I cannot get permits to haul the oversized boat without a plate number. I think anyone could agree that 7 months to receive a title is ridiculous.

Since I have posted these complaints the sweers and FBG have gotten on the ball and started moving forward with the paperwork. They say it will take 4 months for USCG to get it documented and all I have to do is mail in a poa and copy of my DL. Unfortunately they sent me a. Incorrect address so that was just returned. I double checked. It was FBG mistake. The trailer title randy said after calling my an "a*shole” should be here within a week or two.

Why he couldn’t have done that back in November December or even January idk. As far as maintenance records I have requested them Since day one and randy was supposed to have sent them many times. Now he said he has them on his desk and will only give them to me in person. He is acting like a child and certainly not like a million dollar bot broker or reputable business owner should be. BUYER BEWARE

Randy Sweers finally Responds...Nasty

So after complaining to enough people Randy Sweers sent me some nasty emails.  He is still holding the maintenance records and will not release them.  He is very unprofessional and stands behind the fact that he is the highest selling fast boat broker out there.  His reputation is too good to have to answer these complaints.

He had his personal secretary pretend to be an atty to scare me away.  I just want what he promised me from the beginning when I paid for the boat.  He, Kim Sweers, and Ashley England at FB Marine group have all lied directly to me.  They have given me the run around since the beginning.

Over charging FB Marine group service

Jeff cunningham service manager at FB Marine Group tried to bill for items that were not completed and over charge for some items that were.   I brought the over charges to his attention and he corrected them.  If you look at invoices below you will see an additonal $200 in labor charges between the invoice Randy Sweers put on Facebook trying to prove his case and the actual invoice I paid.  Keep in mind I have never seen the Bad2Dbone trailer invoice before.

To recap the complaint,  the trailer had no brakes, for a 1200 mile journey I had to take from FL to IN.  The bearings actually failed at our boat ramp on the first launch.  We turned 90 degrees and wheel separated and fell off 2 blocks later.  I dont believe any of this work was completed as the trailer had no brakes, the bearings failed, and the parts did not look new.  The tires were replaced...I shipped them to FB myself.

Randy sweers misleads customers

I bought the boat sight unseen. I took randy at his word. The test drive seemed like it ran good just smelled like a little burning oil. Much like my Jeep that is supercharged. Always has that same smell but runs great and for many miles and years now. The sirens were explained by randy and he made it sound like it was a normal warning. It was the same sound as when you start the boat.

Who buys a boat and doesn’t get a title especially from a dealer. He had no bad reviews and seemed very reputable and had good communication at first. He has strung me along now for 6 months baling USCG for being slow and then Covid 19 of course. It seems he never sent in paperwork to USCG at this point. The trailer title was supposed to be sent in February.

His office manager let me borrow a dealer plate to get it home. I agree with most of what you said but what do you do once he has the money? You just have to hope he is a stand up person which randy sweers is not. My goal is to not allow him to do this to anyone else. I plan completing that goal.

You see that sign above your head...it doesn't say genius.

If the Title and Maintenence records are so important why did you buy the boat before you had that information in your posession?

Where did you learn that it is a great idea to spend almost 200K for a boat BEFORE you even test drive it?  Since when are sirens and buzzers a good thing? I bet you didn't even ask what they were a warning for. Since when is the smell of burning oil in an engine something that makes you think it is normal?

Even if you have never started a boat in your life, these are things that should have had you running back to Indiana.

Yet instead of that you freely hand over almost 200K. Just imagine if you had spent a few hundred dollars for an independent mechanic to check out the boat.

Sorry, but if you did get ripped off, YOU and you alone let them do it.
