Invitation Homes Starwood Waypoint Homes, The Blackstone Group Exorbitant fees Tempe AZ
This report is fair, but it is a WARNING! Invitation Homes is great in the beginning and even relatively so throughout the term of your lease. We had some issues here and there ("bandaid" maintenance), but it wasn't until it was time to move out and move on that we learned the ugly truth.
We were sad to leave the place we've called home for the past two years due to no longer being able to afford the rent after my husband became disabled. Understandably the rent was going to increase as well, they are a business and have to make money somehow. However, we did not expect move out fees to the tune of some $4,000 (landscape $400, interior paint $1,150, stainless steel package $2,579, etc). We moved out in Feb and we're waiting just hoping to get enough of our security deposit back to pay our final electric bill. In March, we got the statement showing that not only are they planning to keep our deposit of more than $2,000, but also they expected us to pay more on top of that to cover the cost of upgrading the entire set of kitchen appliances. We were even charged for minor things we had already paid to replace and maintenance issues that were reported but not dealt with or resolved prior to move out.
I cannot in good faith recommend this company to others. Previously, I might have and prior to move out I might have even reconsidered renting with them again, but I am not a fan of this type of business practice. Other reviews seem to suggest a pattern. I hope to resolve this issue with them out of court and then go our separate ways.
