Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We went and got two horses from Kayla Gayheart. She had a ton of horses at her facility, untrimmed hooves, and some horses were underweight. I road four horses. One with terrible conformation that got spooked when I touched his face. One with very long hooves that she had to whip to get to trot, and the other two I ended up taking.

Dixie is very skiddish, she stated in the ad that she is a great beginner horse that used to trail ride and she is scared to death of everything. We are working with her. Charlie on the other hand was very confident like they said in the ad and is overall a great horse except his is sick! When we were there he coughed on grain, I asked her is that was normal and she said he just choked on the grain, then when she road him again he coughed.

I asked again, is that normal? And she said yeah still must have had grain in there. So we didnt think much of it. Didnt see anything else alarming. When we got him home he progressively got worse (lots if coughing, eye, nose drainage and rapid breathing up to 41 breaths per minute), she stated it was probably a cold from the weather.

We had a vet come out that stated he has equine asmtha (heaves). We got the horses to trail ride and for our sons birthday, and one is scared and skiddish and the other coughs everytime you ride him. We have contacted the Gayhearts to make it right and they have ghosted us. $5k is lost. All we asked was for at least $1500 back for charley if we kept him or a replacement horse.

We hate to send him back as he is just now starting to gain some weight, and the kids love him. I believe someone should go out and inspect their property for possible abuse, or too many horses for the property. They are not being taken care of appropriately. Also want to mention a gal contacted me with a similar bad experience recently working with them and seems to think the horses were drugged.

After wondering why Dixie was easy to ride and not timid there and the day after we got home flinches and freaks out about a lot makes me wonder. Hoping we can work with her and help her overcome this, but we are at a loss of what to do with Charley. Hoping we can manage his symptoms and help him live a happy life. I would not recommend nor trust these dishonest people at all.
