Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I HAVE HAD UTILITIES IN MY NAME FOR YEARS I AM OVER 50.  RECENTLY WENT IN TO SHECO TO HAVE SERVICE PUT IN MY NAME. SHECO TOLD ME THEY RAN A CREDIT CHECK AND I WAS DENIED AND HAD TO PAY A $375 DEPOSIT...I ASKED TO SEE WHY. THEY SAID IT WAS A THIRD PARTY THAT DID THE CHECK.  I STATED TO THEM THAT THEY HAD A MONOPOLY AND THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE PROOF ON THE SPOT WHY THEY ARE DEMANDING SUCH A LARGE DEPOSIT AND DENYING ME SERVICE WITHOUT AN OUTRAGEOUS DEPOSIT AMOUNT. THEY SAID THAT I WOULD GET A LETTER...COME ON, IN THIS DAY AND AGE THE REPORT CAN BE ELECTRONICALLY SENT IN MILLISECONDS.  THIS HAS WRONG AND UNJUST AND RAILROAD WRITTEN ALL OVER IT.

I PAY MY BILLS. I HAVE A CREDIT SCORE OF AROUND 786 BUT THEY STATED THAT THEY DID NOT USE MY CREDIT SCORE.  THEY CAN NOT TELL ME WHY I WAS DENIED SERVICE WITHOUT A LARGE DEPOSIT BUT ARE DENYING ME WITHOUT PROVIDING A REASON ON THE SPOT. IF I WANT IT ON THEY ARE DEMANDING $375 NOW OR NO SERVICE.

I OWN TWO OTHER HOMES AND NEVER PAID A DEPOSIT FOR SERVICE AT EITHER ONE.

CAN YOU SAY MONOPOLY, CAN YOU SAY RAILROAD GOOD PEOPLE, CAN YOU SAY CROOKS...CAN YOU SAY TAR AND FEATHER!

THIS IS WHERE THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD STEP IN AND THROW THESE CROOKS IN JAIL FOR PRICE GOUGING HONEST HARD WORKING FAMILIES.

I HAVE AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD PERMANENTLY HANDICAPPED CHILD THAT I MUST TAKE CARE OF FOREVER AND THESE CROOKS ARE TAKING AWAY FROM HIM AND HIS WELL BEING.

GOD IS WATCHING

There are a few things you seem to be misinformed on.

First of all they are a Public Utility and everything that they do is already regulated by the Public Utility Commission which is a State Agency.

Next a deposit is just that...a deposit. It is money you will get back after a set time once you have established a satifactory payment history(usually 12 months of on-time payments).

As for the reason. Again due to FEDERAL regulations the reason you are required to put down a deposit must be sent to you in writing. They can not tell you over the phone, or through e-mail. So if you have a problem with not being told immediatly then take that up with your members of congress.

Now, if you think the deposit requiremnent is unfair, then you need to contact the Texas Public Utility Commission and put in a formal complaint. You MAY have to send them the deposit amount to hold while they decide on your complaint.
