Commercial maintenance

A few years ago they contacted me to do some work at a Yankee Candle store. I completed the work without issue, and the store was happy. About three months and twenty phone calls later, they still refused to pay. I finally contacted Yankee Candle corporate, and told them that I was going to sue THEM. That got the ball rolling, and they finally paid.
I have been an independant handyman for many years, and have worked with more of these maintenance companies than I can count. MANY are scammers and just don't pay. The one thing that almost always works is to contact the store you did the work for. Politely and professionally explain the situation, and tell then that you are unfortunately going to have to sue them, as you work your way up the ladder. Let them know that you are still hopeful that the legal process can be avoided, and that you are hoping everything can be straightened out with a few phone calls.
Trust me, big companies don't want to get sued, they will make the phone calls that matter, and 99% of the time you will get paid.
