We were forced to put a 40% down payment on a mobile home and told it would be 7% interest. After the paper work came back the price of the mobile home was $20,000 higher and the interest rate was 12.99% .wre were totally ripped off and had no recourse. The paperwork was changed or filled in after we signed and to put nearly $26,000 down on a trailer priced at $48,900 to go to $68,000 is Just plain criminal

I live in Florida now and the place I bought this mobile home was in Arkansas. They won't help be cause i sold the place to cut my losses but I lost $26,000 dollars and paid $5600 a year in interest at 12.99% .they raised the interest rate because i had identity theft and my credit rating took a hit. I have bad credit but have a FTC. NUMBER And a sheriffs report on the identity theft. They took advantage of us because of the credit. In 2006 when this started the interest was real low compared to what they changed ours to

Why are you mentioning the Mortgage Company?  It appears that it is the Mobile Home company that is the one who asked you to come back and sign additional paperwork.  It is them that said you needed 40% down.  Also, 40% of 68,000 is around 26,000 which is the amount you put down.  So when they told you that you had to put down 40% what price did you think you were buying it for?

The paperwork was changed or filled in after we signed and to put nearly $26,000 down on a trailer priced at $48,900 to go to $68,000 is Just plain criminal

-  If this happened exactly as you said..unethical on their part..yep, dumb on your part..yep.  But it is not illegal.  Now, had they actually forged your signature or did in fact change the paperwork(not just fill it in) that would have been illegal. 

How much of a deposit would you have lost if you just walked away from the deal?

I dont think you told us everything.  This is one sided complaint .  I smell some missing facts!!!!

We signed a copy with the numbers in the proper places. The office of the mobile home company called and said they needed us to sign extra to make sure there were no mistakes and they asked for a deposit. We complied and they came back with the offer for us to pay 40% down or lose our deposit. After we paid we got the paperwork in the mail and the duplicate paperwork was not the one we signed but the duplicates we signed for them "in case of mistakes " .stupid.? Yes but what we did was in good faith and what they did was criminal. We lived in Arkansas at the time. We sold the home and land at a major loss because they refused fo refinance and we couldn't afford to keep it. We lost the $26,000 down and more because the housing market tanked. Twenty first mortgage acted as a large predatory bank

in your city and send them a copy of your Ripoff Report. Put it to the attention of 'Investigative Reporter'.

There is a chance that one of them will contact you and do a story on TV. If this happened to you, it would be safe to assume that it happened to others, right? You might even be able to sue the company if there was forgery or any fraudulent acts that may have occurred in the transaction, correct?
