2nd Am Arms originally came to my attention in early March of 2013 due to a RocketHub campaign they were having to provide 80% lowers.  While they were one of many vendors offering similar products, I felt reassured sending money due to some specific wording that they had:

"What will happen if I back this, but you don't meet the goal?

Rockethub is not like many other crowd-funding sites. If we are short of our goal, they will still fund us if we feel we can fulfill the orders. During the period when the project is being funded, we will be working on our prototypes, programming and tooling, so we will have a very good idea by the end of the project if we cannot fulfill our obligation. If that is the case, we will give everyone the option of a refund. We will be updating everyone with our progress, and if our optimistic estimates are correct, we will still be able to deliver at almost any funding level (since this site is not our only funding). From the way that people are contributing (thanks again to everyone), it looks like we will likely meet our goal. So, to reiterate, even if we don't reach our goal, we will deliver your order. If we are unable to deliver within a reasonable time frame, then we will contact you and offer you a refund."

(Emphasis added on the last two sentences)

Months went by with infrequent updates that held very little information regarding actual delivery dates, despite them raising almost $100,000 over three projects.  The project I was involved in rasied 175% of its target of $30,000; a total of $52,315.

In late 2013 the company became involved with a lawsuit for another product that they were developing and since that time communication has been nonexistant.  I have emailed Ben & Eric (the original principal/current principal) multiple times asking for either an estimated delivery timeframe or for instructions on getting an refund.  I have yet to receive a single reply.

I fully understand that the nature of crowdfunding carries risks at times, but in this case the very risk that I was worried about (not receiving anything for my money) was offset by their deliberate inclusion of text that specified completion of my order or a refund.  In my eyes, this constitutes a contract that they have since broken.

I am currently pursuing all possible options to reclaim my money and would recommend that other customers do the same.  I would also warn any perspective customers that my situation is not unique.  A search through their Rockeethub projects and related Facebook account is full of customers that have not received what they order, a refund or a reply.
