3Guys Moving moved me in 5/09.  When I questioned why they weren't sending someone in advance to give an estimate, they replied "no time" & asked me to email a list of all furniture & appliances to be moved w/descriptions of "move from" & "move to" locations.  I did so and also noted in a phone conversation that I am a caterer & have more than usual boxes & portable catering equipment (chafing dishes, etc.) to be moved.

I stressed to the Mgr., Bob Dane, that I have a very expensive, heavy china cabinet w/glass shelves requiring special care & other furniture w/glass.  I was told not to worry, his men would take good care of them.

Upon arrival, the moving men (Carlos & Joe) acted upset that only 2 men were assigned to the move.  I again pointed out my expensive, heavy china cabinet stressing it's importance to me & it's value.  They both asssured me they would wrap each glass shelf separately and there would be no problem.

After the first load (not using the largest truck), the crew told me they had to leave to handle another move.  Wanting to be accommodating & although it put me behind in schedule w/my business obligations, I agreed for them to return the next morning.  It was a long move, a third man joined on the second/last trip on the second day.

By the second trip, upon unloading they were no longer putting boxes in the designated rooms, just setting them anywhere.  The entire house was so piled up, one could hardly walk from one room to the next even though I keep unpacking the wardrobe boxes as unloaded.

When the last trip was almost unloaded, Joe began bringing in the glass pieces & told me he would unwrap them & lean them against the wall.  Before I could inspect them, they had me sign the bill and left.

Note:  I provided the crew w/a Cuban pork lunch on both days, tipped them well, & even gave them leftovers to take home.

Upon unpacking, I realized 2 of the china cabinet shelves were cracked on one end; a glass shelf to my entertainment center was chipped on the corner; & a glass shelf for a curio cabinet was stuck to another so that when I picked them up, one shelf shattered.  There were also scrapes, scratches, & a tear in my $7500. leather sofa.  Other minor damages I didn't bother to report.

The claim form said it had to be filed w/in 30 days, which I did.  To my surprise, Mr. Ken Nelson, Vice-President, has refused to pay ANY of the claim.  According to him, their investigation consisted of talking to the guys on the crew.  They have yet to even view the damage.  I offered a compromise, but they refused.  They simply refuse to pay ANYTHING.  Total claim is $1155.

These glass shelves were like new before the move, and should be replaced with comparable quality glass shelving.  Damages to my sofa should be repaired and not by the least expensive vendor.  I obtained reasonable repair quotes for their convenience.

This is outrageous!  They are supposed to have insurance/bonds to cover damages.  Otherwise, why hire "professional" movers if they aren't responsible for the damages they incur????
