47th Digital ripoff New York New York
on my first holiday to new york and i may add my last because the minute i got off the plane in newark, on the 01/09/06 new york was on rip off mode the yellow cab was the start then i had the misfortune to do into 47th digitalwhere i was shown the "very latest" small digital camera 6 meg pix and all that i was told that it was half price like $1400 and i said no then he knonked another 100 off still no then he threw in a 1 gig memory card which i laughed at as the price that was shown was far in excess of what i could get in the UK and he said its free so to get out of the store i agreed to pay $758 with tax later that day or should i say night i still felt unsure so we my daughter and i went back in the shop as there was diff staff and asked how much the camera in question was he asked if we had been there before and said no then he said to you $499 which meant with bartering a lot less i guess so that night i called in the hotel bar for a brandy other nights $10 for generous helping this night $10 for 1 shotwith the obvious result that was the last time they had me any way back to 47th digital next morning instead of going back to shop i went to times sq alliance and spoke in the end to the supervisor mr degeorge who turned out to be a very helpful guy he spoke with the shop and cut a long story short they refunded $150 to my visa debit card on the 01/15/06 and to this date being 01/23/06 it still not in my account and as debit cards are normaly instant i can only assume that they are delaying it in some way or at worst cancelled it i will if it arrives make it known to you after this i would not purchase any further items as every where i went or did there was people asking for there tips.
so on my last night i thought i would book a sedan rather than another rip off cab for 6-30am next morning and guess what that never turned up so in a yellow cab i have to get with just enough $s to pay the $45 plus the tip quoted by sedan company so now at the mercy off the yellow cab the fare had now risen to $65 plus tip i had to wait in cab while my daughter went to withdraw more $s plus charges so ends my new York exsperiance (or has it) i will add one last comment this has no reflection on the true american whom i found to be very nice and helpful folks but alas you come across very few in the tourist new york
