Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I turned in 6 applications and never got a response. I called and left several messages for the manager in charge of hiring (Norma) and she never returned any of my calls. I asked for her directly and she said she was doing "background checks" on the applications and would call me back but, she never did. So I stopped by the the store and left my number and even tried to speak with her but she said it wasn't a good time because they were busy. I started to take it personally because I am more than qualified for the position that I was applying for. When the store first opened I filled out an online applicaction. I received an email from Marcia Seitz from 99 cent only stores recruitment team that stated they were looking to hire someone for a front end lead position ( keyholder) and felt that I might be a good fit, flattered by the offer I decided against it because it was a full time position. So like I said 6 applications , several messages and about forty phone calls later I get norma on the phone she tells me to come in tomorrow for an open interview. when I arrive at the "interview" I am asked to fill out an application, mind you I have filled out 6 or more already??? I am offered minimum wage regardless of my experience , lol first off ummm where are all those apps with all my personal info on them??? Well needless to say I got the job and found out where all the applications are that I and several others had filled out and turned in...they are piling up next to the register that the cashier stinks it under for anyone to see. The manager is Hispanic, the assistant manager is Hispanic. Not a big deal never even took notice until both of them and another Hispanic employee who only works on the floor always take lunch together in the break room and only speak in Spanish amongst each other making not only me but several employees uncomfortable. It was also brought to my intention that this employee that doesn't speak English and can't work on the register gets paid more than the experienced employees that started there before her ? Maybe because her son used to be the store manager? Until he had to transfer to a diferrent store because he who is "a married man with a family" is sleeping with my 19 year old assistant manager. So sad. You ask yourself how would I know this to be true....Well let's see. About a month ago we got a new cashier she was 16 , dropped out of school with no experience but she was very polite and showed excellent customer service she to was paid minimum wage. Then rumors flew that her mom picked her up in the cheating old managers car! why? Lol because her mother is or was also having relations with our old store manager who let's not forget is married with two young boys. Needless to say that cashier never returned to work except to pick up her check. so sad. I would never have blown the whistle on anybody, but I am not doing it for me, I am doing it for my coworkers who get treated poorly...borderline abuse. We are yelled at daily in front of the customers. Criticized and ridiculed I keep returning to work hoping that maybe something will change. Well I am tired of waiting , I am tired of working my a*s off while the management team stand around doing nothing while rolling there eyes at me, speaking in Spanish amongst each other or spending most of there time taking selfies and texting on the Isle with no security cameras while meanwhile im busting my a** making minimum wage . maybe me posting this will make the changes that need to be made.

Simple Solution

There is a real simple solution...Quit.  Yes, it really is that simple.

If you hate working at this place and get paid minimum wage, you are not forced to be there and are free to leave your job at any time.

With all of your qualifications and experience you are claiming you should have your pick of beter jobs.  Yet, you spent all of this time putting in 6 application, tracking down the managers and basically forcing yourself into this MINIMUM WAGE job.

Sorry doesn't make sense, and seems like nothing more than standard "Office Politics".
