Spring,#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

As always there are 2 sides to a story. In this case the party that wrote the complaint failed to represent the true facts so I will. While it is true that I accidentally hit this person as he was riding his bike on the wrong side of a busy 4 way stop along I-45 and Rayford Road, she also failed to report that he got a ticket for violating the biking laws. I didn't realize I hit him until the police officer came to my house. Everyone who knows me, knows my character and that I wouldn't do anything to harm anyone. I was at a complete stop and then started to turn right when out of no where this guy came right in front of my car on his bike. I saw him and slammed on my breaks. If I had knocked him to the ground as stated in the complaint, I would have run right over him. There wasn't a bump or anything like that so had there been any indication that I may of hit him I would have stopped but looking in my rear view mirror and seeing him riding his bike made me believe otherwise. The highway patrol officer suggested that I contact my insurance company which I did. What I find amusing is that the individual that was involved in the accident didn't contact the insurance company or file the complaint, his girlfriend did and she wasn't even there or involved in the accident. This is the reason the insurance company would not talk to her. She states she only wanted compensated for her bike in the complaint. If that were the case why the other claims of having injuries and needing compensation for him supposedly being out of work, this part she failed to comment about. It is my opinion and the opinion of my insurance company, AAA Texas, that she was going to get what she could, thinking this was a great opportunity to take advantage of a situation that she wasn't even a part of. The highway patrolman that was at the scene contacted AAA and told them the truth, that the bike was ridable (as I saw in my rear view mirror) but had a slightly bent wheel and the individual didn't have any injuries as he was jumping up and down when discussing the accident. Yea for AAA in doing a great job in protecting their client, us and disallowing a fraudulent claim to be filed. They gathered the facts as they were and rejected this individuals claims according to the facts. Just to make things right and out of consideration of his property I sent this individual $50 to cover the expense of a new wheel for the bike, which she also failed to mention.
