I went an ordered a computer from Aarons Rents in Hamden, CT. I was paid for three months and the fourth month I was late, because I had to close my parents estate, which they knew I told them. I went into the store and talked with the manager and told him what was going on. HE didn't say anything that he would close the account the next day if payment wasn't made or if he recieved the computer back. No I own a NASCAR magazine and I deal with several people from the corportae side of Aarons. I was told that I would get a discount on my computer from several people from Corporate. I have incoming phone calls on my phone from Atlanta's Corporate Office, I talked with them and I was told that there will need to be some phone calls made and she would get back with me. I called after a couple of days of no call backs and told them again. The next thing I knew they closed my account and wanted the computer back.

I called Aaron's Legal Department and explained, I was late on one months payment, they got paid 3-months already. Now owning a magazine I had downloaded several costly programs for the computer and the magazine (Over $1,400), I went to the police department and explained my self and told me what the legail department told me, they said to go make the payment and if they refuse it to call them to the store. They closed my account, they knew the reason, I had to go close my parents estate, but what gets me is that after I talked to them that day, they continued to call friends untill they closed and harrassed me on my phone. I talked with one person and then got a call back in a matter of minutes from somebody else in the store, this happened for days. The best part of the deal is because they wanted the computer back and that it was at a computer store getting the programs removed, The Aaron's Car won the NASCAR race, but I was unable to do a story on the race for Aaron's and I did send some documentaion to the Corporate office. Don't get anything from this store, you'll get your contract vioded, loose your money, but believe me my lawyer is in court as I type this and is working on a suit.

I have to agree with Robert on this one. The OP definitely has poor grammatical skills. How could he possibly write for a magazine, let alone OWN one ?? Why would he have to rent a computer. My goodness, you can BUY one for what he paid 3 months rental for one. As Ricky Ricardo would say " He's got some 'splaining to do ".

- Why the owner of a magazine would need to go to a Rent to Own place to get a good deal? - Why the owner of a magazine seems to have trouble with basic grammar and spelling? - Why if this is such a big magazine, how come the owner is also the one who has to write the articles? - Why with all of these relationships with the corporate headquarters, why do they seem unwilling to do anything for him also? - What grounds the lawyer is using since they are currently in court working on a suit? Could it be that this person is exaggerating a bit to try and make them sound more credible? I hope the OP comes back and gives us the details of the suit including the court it was filed in and the case number.

You do realize when you rent a computer from Aaron's you don't own it right? You were late on a payment, they were within their right to close the account as ask for the computer back. It is their property and you had not made a payment. Is this good customer service? No. Is it legal? Yes. next time, buy a computer before loading expensive software on it. If you could afford $1400 worth of software, surely you could afford to buy a computer to put it on.
