Hello my name is Amber im from Greensboro, NC , it all started when I took out an internet loan for only $200 . Well I lost my job a few weeks after that and couldnt pay the loan back so I had to shut down my account so it wouldnt go negative.
a few months later (now) a Melissa Grant from ACA RECOVERY is calling my friends and me harrassing me saying I owe $505.00 I told her that im not trying to dodge the bill or whatever.
Melissa Grant and her collagues have been call saying they are going to call greensboro authoritys and have me arrested imeddiatley if I didnt western union them the money by a certain time. In addition to that she said that she will advise her client to file felony charges against me .
I sent ACA RECOVERY $250.00 just so they would stop bothering me until I get the rest of the money . They keep calling and calling my friends house . I told Melissa Grant that I was not a criminal and I have a clean record and shes trying to make me out to be a bad person.
In addition they said they were a law firm this isnt burger king or whatever and I cant have it my way . They are putting me under alot of stress IF anyone can help please do so and tell me what I need to do.

Amber, RELAX. Everything they have said and done here is ILLEGAL, as per the FDCPA which you should read and print out from FTC.gov. Go to this site and file a separate complaint for each violation of your rights. It is illegal for ANY debt collector to threaten being arrested and/or going to jail. It is also a FELONY to impersonate being a police officer, and illegal to impersonate a lawyer or other officer of the court. This is also a felony in some states. Under the FDCPA they can only contact 3rd paties to determine your whereabouts, and can only do this 1 time. Since they knew where you were, these calls were all illegal, as they were done soley for purposes of harassment and intimidation. All illegal. The best thing you can do is change your phone# to an unlisted one, and also send the CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request as per your rights under the FDCPA. STAY OFF THE PHONE!! Send all communications by certified mail, return reciept requested. Put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. One more thing, NEVER pay ANY third party collection agency ANYTHING! It will only make things worse. You have recourse, the FDCPA provides for $1000/violation plus costs. You have to file a lawsuit to get it.
