On Feb. 22 2013 I received a letter from Account Care informing me that services were being improved etc. I called March 4th to inform them I had never enrolled into their plan, requested a cancellation and a refund of money they had taken via my Sears account for several years (total $312.21). My Sears account was at a 0 balance and had been since Jan. so credit to the account was not a viable option. After 30 calls, speaking to numerous supervisors and being lied to by all, the only correspondence I have received was acknowledgement of my cancellation. It has been 3 months and 16 days and nothing.Same thing happened with my Walmart account, notifcation made that their account care service had improved..when i notified them I had not enrolled, they forwarded my cancellation and lo and behold 2 weeks later I had my money refunded to me. WE ARE ENTITLED TO A REFUND it is the law and I hope that someone out there files the class action suit that is far over due.. as for me I will continue to call Account Services every week and forward correspondence at least every two week until there is a check in my hand. ACCOUNT CARE IS NOTHING BUT A RIP OFF AND SHOULD  BE FORCED OUT OF BUSINESS.. PERIOD!!!!

I can appreciate what you are saying but fact still remains it was my money, done without my consent. What I can liken your statement to regarding the service being there for my use whether I utilized it or not reminds me of that old joke involving a punch line of I didn't sleep with your wife.. husband responding well she was there, not my fault if you didn't take advantage of it..

The government enacted  new laws recently due to these type of misleading charges. That is what forced this particular company and others in the same business, to issue correspondence to consumers to make them aware of the service and what it entailed. For many this was the first notification that they were involved to begin with.

I will not give up. If for no other reason the countless lies that I have been told by various employees and supervisors of this shady, fly by night operation. The only employee that had the decency or guts to tell the truth made it known that they had a super influx of cancellations of which I have no doubt.

This is a shady fly by night company that is operated as if the rules change minute by minute. There is not a standard operating procedure. There has not been any correspondance on their part after notification of my cancellation whatsoever. I deserve better than that and from what I have read thus far from other consumers regarding this company, they fail miserably on all fronts.

A refund MAY be impossible.

As Sears had you enrolled, it may be impossible for you to recover ANY refund. Sears offers it as a service that you were paying for. Even if you did not use it, you still had the OPTION to use it. That being said, you can normally only get a refund IF you were charged AFTER you were informed they were improving your service. Not for any time before you were informed. Sears can and will argue that you did not stop the charges to your Sears card and that constitutes acceptance of that service.

Best bet is to cut any loses and run. Just dont use a "in store" credit card. This way you will not have to deal with a situation where you are paying for a service you know nothing about simply because you didnt put a check mark declining it.
