Look thru the fog to see the scam! In short, I only acted in High School, lost my job, always see the ads(Extra work$$)Went to office, lots of young snotty girls at desk, read a script(Why do I need a script read for extra work??)Was told it was a REALLY GREAT READ and told to call a # at 11 next day. (Left thinking:this could be fun)Called the # on time, got this really fast talking guy on the phone.Told me I needed headshots, gave me another #, he would put 50dollars on it.Call him back.Hung up. He sounded like he was reading from a script. Called for headshots(???) also sounded like reading fom a script, pressured me to book ASAP. I called back fast talking guy who tried to hang up on me when I managed to tell him I couldn't afford headshots, just wanted to do extra work.He said with BIG DISGUST:oh,all I can get you is $50 audience work.I actually felt embarrassed to accept. When,I got off the phone, I got it. The amateur shows up,told they are great, the agency acts all busy, says they need headshots, there is probably a deal between the photo shop and Act.Reps.He makes me feel bad for asking for extra work which was the reason I went there in the first place. So to close, I then spent EIGHT HOURS(for real) watching Carnie Wilson host the NEWLYWED SHOW.I couldn't leave. It was awful.Traumatic! I never got paid. weeks later, getting the scam i called fast talking guy whom had assigned me some wierd code word to address him by. he told me to go by the office on a certain day at a certain time and ask for the money.I told him to *%$.40dollars is nothing,it was all principle now. I called the day and time assigned ...NOW THIS IS THE WORST. The B$t#H who answered the phone said(very snotty) honey, you have to c/b later and hung up when I mentioned picking up $. I called back and when she recognized my voice, she huffed and hung up again, then a third time, she yelled at me and said something and hung up on me again. All I got out was that I was coming by for a check and wanted to be sure it was there before making the trip....after all this, you make the decision. I sure went through alot. I just wanted to be an extra!

First matter of correction is that we understand all the levels of talent that come into our office to read. This being said, we never respond to anyone that they had a REALLY GREAT READ. The $50 towards headshots was a generous offer in hopes that we could work with the individual by helping them when they were unable to obtain the necessary tools for the industry. The audience participation work offered to this individual was in fact $60 (not $50 as they first mentioned nor $40 as they later changed their statement to). There should have been no embarrassment felt by accepting this job offer as this individual clearly needed income and couldn't follow standard protocol to obtain a higher paying extra role. The job offered was Audience Participation NOT an extra role. We thoroughly enjoy the company of our clients so to imply our staff is "snotty" leads me to believe this individual forced this issue upon our staff and instigated a confrontation. While on set, our clients uphold our reputation and it is imperative that respect is both given and received. In closing, Actors Reps of NY has been in business for over 34 years and is licensed with the Department of Consumer Affairs. Our reputation is flawless with the Department of Consumer Affairs and Better Business Bureau.
