As an ex Crew Manager I can agree with everything the last ex employee said and also about Jack. The Company would be a good company to work for until you get above Preston Arnwine. I can tell you that when John Alton came into our store we all wanted to leave. The man is the nastiest SOB you ever wanted to meet. He doesn't even say hello to any of the store managers or employees. All he does is yell and scream. A friend from another store told me that one day he came in and said yeah today I'm a real human resources mood - I need to fire someone. He is a nightmare. Preston is a good guy.
Jack was great. We work with so much old, broken down equipment and that man tried everything in the world to keep us going. I heard from a couple of sources that John Alton said he was too old for the job. They did call the stores to find out if he was there. They fight every unemployment claim, but lose most of them. They also follow employees around in their car. Seriously this is all John Alton. Whatever Preston does is because Alton orders him to.

This man was not only a great employee, he was the only repair man that had any idea what he was doing. In a company where maintenence is a punch line, he was the only bright spot. Often times, they would have him cover as many as 3 territories (1 1/2 hours each way) because the other maintenance guy wasn't useful beyond changing a light bulb. They made constant promises to him even having him drive a broken down van for a while until they "found a good deal." They also constantly handcuffed him. He would tell leadership that a new make table or condenser was needed and they would tell him to do what he can until they have the money. He would do everything in his power including showing up every morning to check the leak. Inspection would come and they would blame it on poor maintenence when they chose to not fix it. They would even have him patch pot holes in the parking lot with a bag of filler and the tire on his van. H
e also did do every bit of that work at the personal homes of leadership. I was a manager at one store that he covered. They were trying to fire him for at least 6 months. I was told to call him on bogus calls and report if he showed up. I was called and asked times he was there. I was told to report any poor work he did. I can also confirm that the company's firing procedure revolves solely around not being held liable for unemployment. I was told to make a poor performing employees life miserable so he quit which makes it harder to receive benefits. We would pick apart the handbook and find reasons to fire people. If all else failed, we would default to "detrimental conduct".
The owners think they are Bill Gates and are too good for you. If you contact a leader above your direct supervisor you are treated like a peasant sneaking into the kingdom. The company would deny biannual raises to minimum wage employees stating they couldn't afford it. They would rather spend the money on new hire training and on boarding and didn't understand that turnover was a direct result of empty promises. They
fire employees that get hurt on the job if they can find anything they were doing wrong (ie. Not wearing non slip shoes) before they paid hospital bills. They would make employees work in stores with broken ac units for weeks before fixing. These people are dirty. Especially those above Preston. I hope you are well Jack.

The Pilgrims did not know you were on company time. The Pilgrims paid for the parts, and the Pilgrims also paid you.

I will for sure no doubt think that Jack went to Preston Arwine and John Alton's house to do work. In NO way did he do any work for Mr. Pilgrim.
