First of all, let me say this in their defense, I should have gotten approval from them for any out of scope work ahead of time, I did not because I believed there was a mutual respect.

I was asked to go for a 10-15 minute job to hook up a cable, they had send me a picture of the specific cable they need me to get, We agreed on a rate for the job  (85) and i included the cost of the cable. This job is about a 25 minute drive one way and with time onsite i would spend around an hr worth off time on the job. the rate was my normal hourly rate and i basically threw in the cable for free.

Once i arrived on site i concluded that the cable they had requested me to buy was not the correct cable. At this point I should have left and closed and completed the job.

Instead, I went to my trunk stock and used 2 cables to splice together a cable that would work for them (mono rca to 3.5" jack) and I was able to hook up the system and it worked great. at this point I had spend about an hr onsite and i left.

about 5 minutes later I get a call, they wanted me to check on a other issue (not the original scope) and asked me to return. I did (i should have gotten in writing that they would pay for that)

i returned and worked an additional 45 minutes and resolved yet another issue by taking a stocked item (4 port switch)

When it came time to complete the job they were not willing to pay any for the labor beyond the original price we agreed on, even though I worked on something they had requested that was out of the original scope. They would reimburse for parts

I left them a message in the work order about how I didn't agree with it, but that considering that I did not get anything else in writing that it was my own fault. And i would accept they payment as is. And that I would prefer to not do business with them in the future.

I then received a call from a lady from the company who was upset and mentioned that I ruined her day, because this had happened, to which i replied likewise.

She proceeded to explain how she couldn't pay more because they didn't get more etc etc. I saw it as an attempt to make me reconsider cutting ties with them.

This was the second time that i felt that they didn't want to pay for services, last time i dealt with someone else who also kept haggling on the rates.

Long story short: If you work for these guys, Get a very clear scope in writing and don't do anything out of scope unless you are willing to donate your time to them.

2 days later:

After the job was done and the last was said (so i thought) I got a call the next day from "the boss" in his recollection of the events he blamed it on the lady thinking that i had purchased the wrong cable, and that that was the reason why she didn't want to pay me. also he told me that she was very "technical" and that she didn't understand. which would seem odd to let her run point on something if she doesn't understand it.

anyways, he said he wanted to make things right. I told him what i expected and he asked if i would give them a 5 star rating after it was resolved.

I told him i would look at the rating and review it, but i did not make any promises or verbal confirmations.

later the same day he called back, saying something else went wrong on the site, and basically blaming it on me. he said he no longer needed the switch i had installed and he didn't want to pay for it. I told him fine and said ill pick it up when i could. He asked me how to proceed from there, and I told him, Do whatever you please.

the next day (today) he calls me and says he is going to route me the work order for the extra pay and if i will go ahead and give him a 5 star rating. I told him I will look at it in the afternoon, he pushed to know when, and I tell him late in the afternoon (its 430pm now)

he routes the work order and as i'm waiting on a virus scan to run at a different client on my smartphone i accept the work order and complete it.

at this point he calls me, I am at a other client at the moment so i don't answer, then he calls from another number, i don't answer, then he calls from yet another number, i still don't answer. then he emails me, and finally he texts me.

he says: i saw you accepted and closed out the work order, Please confirm you removed the rating.

to which i replied: I will have to look at it later this afternoon, Im busy right now.

to which he replied: I saw you had time to accept and close out the work order, why don't you have time to remove the rating?

I replied with: You know what, Forget about it, Just don't approve the last work order and we will leave it as it is, I'm not going to put up with yall anymore, Have a good day and dont contact me again.

If you do I will report you and get a cease and desist order

You will not control my time and my actions

Any other communication can go through the field nation staff, but i'm no longer communicating with you.

He listened, and did not try contacting me again, he contacted fieldnation.com (the work pplatform) and said the following:

Good Afternoon xxxxxx.

Following our conversation regarding the unfair ratings we received on WO ID 3462356, we would like to know if these ratings and wording is being removed. Please let me know.

Thank you,

xxxxxxx

I got a call from fieldnation and explained the situation, also apprised them of the fact that instead of a 2 star rating i would lower it to one star due to the bullying and pushiness.

So, all this to say,  proceed with caution, get stuff in writing and don't expect them to reciprocate any goodwill.

I will probably get some bad ratings from them, but, i rather be true then fake and rather keep someone else from getting treated this way as well.

So today i got a call from this company regarding this and after several minutes of him recapping what he believed what happened (miscommunication) he asked me if i would remove the rating on the fieldnation platform and this rip off report.

Mind you, he didnt apoligize are conceeded in any way, he just wanted it to go away. He used language to describe me as: Aggresive, hostile, upset etc.

He also tried to impress me with the volume of work they supposedly have and all that.

I made it clear that I had no interest in continuing to work for them and that if he wanted to have any further communication he can email me (which he didnt do)
