I owed Riley (owner of Affordable Accounting Solutions) $9.75 for postage on the return of a ring she bought from me and returned. My family had just experienced the sudden death of a young family member and in my distress I did not catch a bank error in issuing a cashiers check for $975 instead of $9.75. The check was mailed to Amy Riley at Affordable Accounting Solutions, 115 N. School St., Ste. 3, Lodi CA 95240 and cashed by Amy anyway on May 9, 2018.

I discovered the error several weeks later while paying bills and contacted Amy on her cell phone (listed on Affordable Accounting Solutions website) on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 2pm. I explained the situation and that she had cashed the check anyway, knowing full well it was an error.  Her reply was that she gets a lot of checks on her desk and just cashes them.  She also said that she had a lot of family visiting this weekend for her daughter's graduation and couldn't look into it. I replied "OK" and  I requested that she look into it on Monday (June 11th) and call me back that day...it was urgent.

She did not follow through and call me, nor has she responded to any of the multiple voice messages, texts, emails, or calls I have made to her requesting she refund the overpaid amount due me. She refuses to communicate with me in any way.

Her affordable accounting solution seems to be stealing and fraud. I am now forced to file a small claims case against her...adding undue stress during a period of loss and mourning.

Beware of this woman (owner of Affordable Accounting Solutions) and her dishonesty.

Wow. First of all, yes, I did list a 10kt gold ruby floral ring for sale. The jeweler verified the stamp inside the ring, but did not tell me it was a synthetic ruby. After I received the returned ring, I took it to another jeweler who said it would be $30 to repair the slightly mishapened band, and that the ruby was man-made with a diamond center set in 10kt gold.

I misunderstood my daughter's wishes when I listed it for $149 and accepted an offer for $125. She did not want me to sell it for less than $149 amount, which I relayed to Amy. I unfortunately did not package it well enough and it was damaged.

I apologized to Amy and said I would pay for the return postage. I did not refuse to send a return label, I was unable to   navigate the ebay website from my phone to send it due to grief and stress.  I was out of town at my son's without computer access due to the sudden death of his fiance (who was already a daughter to me). I emailed Amy explaining this and assured her I would send to $9.75 postage to her. When I came home for a couple of days, I emailed her again that I would mail her a cashiers check the next day on my way back to my son's.

I went to the bank and requested a cashier's check for the $9.75. I was not "stupid" for not realizing the bank teller made the mistake of issuing it for $975, I was grieving and stressed and didn't catch it. Amy knew it should have been $9.75 but cashed it anyway.

When I discovered the error 6 weeks later as I paid my bills, I tried to send a message via ebay but couldn't find a link so I managed to find a phone number via the shipping address. I was so relieved. I anxiously called Amy to tell her I discovered the error and needed her to please return the overpayment amount to me. I was not rude. She acted surprised and said "I get a lot of checks on my desk and just deposit them all together." (Doesn't an accountant pay attention to the amounts and what the checks are for?) I replied, "But you knew the check should have been $9.75 and you cashed it anyway."

Her reply was "Well I have a lot of family here for my daughter's graduation right now, so I can't look into it."  It was Sunday (June 10th) so I asked her to please look into it tomorrow (Monday) and call me back. I then went to the ebay site and found an email from our earlier correspondence and used the reply to send her an email with copies of the cashier check receipt and the postage receipt she had sent me.

Amy's rebuttal comments that "She was indeed stupid enough to send me a cashiers check for the wrong amount and then 6 weeks later called me at home (I called her business number which turns out to be her cell phone)...to rudely demand a refund of the money she sent me." I was never rude. I was anxious and pleading for a response from her. I did not slander her or violate her privacy. I contacted her at the number for the address where she received the ring she bought from me and have only told the truth about the issue: I mistakenly sent a check of $975 in error for a $9.75 amount due, and Amy Riley, owner of Affordable Accounting Solutions, refuses to be honest and return the overpaid amount. This does not demonstrate integrity of character or business practice.

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, July 09, 2018

This complaint is from an eBay seller who has made my life a nightmare.  The whole transaction was awful from start to finish.  I bought a ring - then she cancelled the sale saying it was her daughters and she didn't have permission to sell it.  Then she contacted me and said she would sell it at a higher price.  When it finally arrived it was crushed and when I took it to my jewler to find out the cost of repair, my jeweler told me it was fake and not worth repairing.  She would not send me a return shipping label through eBay - as is customary.  So I had to pay for the return shipping and hope that she would reimburse me.  When I received the reimbursement check I deposited it with other checks and paid bills.

She was indeed stupid enough to send me a cashiers check for the wrong amount and then 6 weeks later called me at home (wihtout trying to contact me through Ebay) to rudely demand a refund of the money she sent me.   After violating my privacy and slandering my business on multiple sites (I returned the fake ring that she sold me as genuine) through my business usps account.  This is how she has my business  name and phone number.  There is no way I will be sending her money back after all of this.

Additionally I will be meeting with my attorney this afternoon to discuss filing a slander suit against this person.
