Afni-Bloomberg posted a negative report on my credit report 6 years after an account was closed at Sprint - they claimed to have called my office and talked only to a "female" who said she would not pay. I am not a female and I am the only person responsbile for the account. When the asked me about my wife and found out her name from me today by phone, they then put down on the record that they talked to my wife 3 1/2 yrs ago.

I had no knowledge of this claim or balance due whatsoever for the last 6 years and it appears this year on my credit report - they were rude, nasty, insulting, and offensive and told me that I had no choice but to pay the bill. The amount of the bill is $37.57 from the year 2000 and just now I am finding out about this? No phone calls, no mail, no notices in 6 years.

Then today, they reported it to a second credit agency when I questioned why it was only on one agency report. I have filed complaints with the agencies, the attorney general of Illinois, the FTC and the BBB of Central Ill - they falsified the record today to make it sound like they contacted me - only problem that still remains is that they have legal obligation to contact me personally and that never happened, nor did they ever talk to wife as they have claimed today after finding out her name.

James, file a lawsuit IMMEDIATELY! Here's why

James, Just file a lawsuit against them for the damages resulting from the inaccurate negative information placed on your credit reports. The FCRA allows for this. FYI.. The Maximum SOL in PA is 4 years. Therefore, the collections attempt and negative reporting are clearly fraudulent. I would also seek criminal fraud charges against them. As far as them alleging a conversation with your wife, just get a sworn, notorized statement from your wife saying the conversation never happened. AFNI are genuine scumbags. they break every known collections law on a daily basis. Sue them immediately, as they always settle out of court. You can probably get $5k out of them without ever stepping into a courtroom.
