Your father could end up with a claim agains AFNI if they violate federal law such as the FDCPA or other state laws. I would send a certified letter return receipt to AFNI requesting verification that the debt is indeed yours. Information such as the original contract for the phone as well as detailed charges which prove that the debt is your father's. After all it is their responsibility not yours to prove it.
