Airport-U-Store - Currydale Farms Self stroage has NO security, Our lock was missing, the unit was broken into over the last 3 years. Bandon Oregon
We rented a 10X40' storage unit at Currydale Farms, Airport-U-Store 1n 2002. My wife had loaded the storage in 2002.
In 2005 my son and I returned to pickup a few things, the lock was missing. It had been 3 years since we had been to the storage, so I wanted to know when, and who removed our lock. No one could tell me.
I attempted to contact Currydale Farms, the parent company, I sent emails and attempted to call them with no response.
In July 2009 we went the 1000 miles to Oregon to empty our storage. We had lost the key, so I spent 10 minutes cutting the lock off with bolt cutters, no one came by to ask why I was cutting the lock off a unit, or if it was my unit.
As soon as the door opened my wife began to cry seeing all the things that were missing. The lock was on, but from when the lock was missing, so was our stuff.
Missing was a large Craftsman rool around tool box full of tools, 2 compound bows and archery items worth $1200, file cabnets with tax returnes and personal papers. Since this was a 10X40' unit, we will never know what was really missing.
You would think when there was a break in, the company would want to find the problem and fix it to protect their customers. Not at Currydale Farms.
The sheriff did take a report, but said with no time line, but the last 2-3 years, the chances of catching someone is slim.
I feel any storage company has the responsibility to check the locks on storage units, and if one is missing, notify the renter in a timely manor.
PLEASE, if you value your property, don't rent from Currydale farms, Airport-U-Store.
