I was a co-signer for my brother on a vehicle a 2006 Chevy Impala LTZ contract date 6/18/2007. The problem was we were having issues with the dealership putting tires on the car. Everytime my brother would got attempt to speak with someone they would give him the round around and this went on for about two weeks. The monthly payment on the car is $461.99 which is way too much for the car and the total sale price was $27,843.89. I knew the car was over-priced but i was trying to help my brother out because they said in a years time he could trade the car back in and take me off of the loan. I figured thats the least the could to for us since we are paying so much more than the value of the car. The Kelly Blue Book website only values the car around $13,000-$16,900 due to the mileage of over 40,000 miles. I spoke with the finance manager and the general manager on the 30th of June about the tire issue. The GM told me to tell my brother to come up there the following Monday morning and they would replace the tires on the car. When my brother arrives Monday morning to the dealership the salesman tells him the bank (Compass) dosen't wanna do the deal anymore and tells him to return the vehicle. My brother returned the car the next morning and he even took pictures of the car when he returned it to make sure they were not any damages or anything done to the car while it was in his possession on July 3rd 2007. My Brother receives a payment book in the mail Compass Bank on Monday July 23rd for a payment due on the vehicle. My brother goes to the dealership the next morning to speak with the salesmen and he told him that he didn't say that concerning the bank not wanting to do the deal. We are smart enough not to turn a car in under contract without a valid reason. The general manager and the finance manager acted like they were unaware of the return of the vehicle. They looked on the lot and discovered the vehicle wasn't there. My question is how can you not see a Chevy Imapala parked right in front of your building the day my brother brought it back. It seems like they are trying to make us look like we stole the car or something. The Salesmen claimed the car was at the location up the street which is another Alford dealership. My brother goes there and the car isn't there either. My mom went by the dealership today and the salesmen told her the car was at the Pittsburg, Texas location. It seems to me they are trying to act like the car was never returned and play games with us but we have proof with pictures. Now the problem is they dont wanna pay the Bank back there money untill nest Friday Aug 3rd 2007 which is the due date for the first payment. To make a long story short I would like for the dealership to pay the bank back there money so we can clear our credit of a car we don't have in our possession by the end of this week because im trying to purchase a home. If i have to take legal action i will. They have there car so give Compass bank there money. I have never dealt with a group of such unprofessional people in my life. I called the GM today and he didn't return my call. I've have been more than patient with this dealership. Im very very upset about this situation. I hope this issue gets resolved before it is too late. I went to the dealership on Sat. Aug. 11 2007 to see when they were going to payoff the loan. The only answer i got was that it would be done this week no specifics at all. They said the same thing at the end of July and its almost 3 weeks later. So as we speak i have a $28,000 + loan in my name and dont have anything to show for it and the payment was due on the 3rd and today is the 13th of August so im already 10 days late which causes a late fee. Because i was so professional and had all legal documents to have a detailed conversation about the situation the management was upset and threaten to call the cops on me. I never yelled or anything during the whole conversation even though the finance manager yelled at me like i was a kid or something. I kept my cool and me and my brother walked out the dealership in an orderly manner. She also stated the dealership was private property, i guess to certain people(read between the lines). I thinks the main thing that triggered them to get angry was when i asked the question; why did the original sale price on the title receipt $19, 899.00 and their base sale price is $24,883.44 without any trade in or finance charge. How can a car with 40,000 miles and a year older be more expensive than it was when it was brand new? Sounds like a ripoff to me. They couldn't give me an explanation that made sense but i knew what it was: the cars at Alford are just way to expensive. Dont buy from them they will beat you out of your money and theit customer service is dirt poor.
