First-time female buyer ripped off! ..All-Type Auto
My girlfriend purchased a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am for $2950.00 on the day of April 5, 1999, from a salesman at All-Type Auto Sales. About two weeks after she purchased the car I had to go out and jump the car off because it didn't want to start. I also had to go out and jump the car off maybe about five times more after the first time. I finally became frustrated and decided to go and buy a new battery to see if that was the problem.
After the purchase of the battery I had no problem starting the car. But now I came across another problem. There wasn't any padding on the brake shoes and the rotor was scarred so badly that it was impossible to resurface it. So now I had to pay for a brake job and a brand-new rotor.
A month later, which was in June, the engine on the car completely locked up. So, I had to call off from work to find out what was wrong with the car. The car wouldn't turn over. No matter how many different strategies I tried, there was just no luck! So I used my truck to push the car to my girlfriend's house.
The next morning she called the owner of ALL-Type Auto and told him about the problems that she was having. She told him that either he needed to have the car fixed or give her her money back. The owner told her that he had paid a mechanic to fix the problem before she brought it and that he needed to get in touch with the mechanic and he was going to call her back. Then, the owner gave my girlfriend the number to the mechanic's shop so that they could set up an appointment, to make it seem like he really had resolved the problem.
The mechanic came and towed the car to his shop, but he said that he wasn't fixing anything until the owner paid him. The owner said that he wasn't paying for something that he already paid for. So the mechanic towed the car right back to the spot where it was before.
My girlfriend once again got in touch with the owner at All-Type Auto and told him that the car was back at home. He told her to go ahead and have the car fixed and he would repay her the full balance. But I told her that was a scam and that she shouldn't have to come out of pockets with any of the money. So now the car has been sitting in the same spot for the last 7 months. I have to sacrifice to bring my girlfriend and her two kids to work and school and where ever else they need to go eventhough she has a paid out car sitting in front of her house.
All I would like to do is have the car fixed. I don't want to file a suit against the company, although it would be nice to have some kind of compensation for all of the driving my girlfriend back and forth eventhough she has her own car. So if it is at all possible could you please give me a little help in resolving this situation?
