Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

September 26th 2011 I enrolled in the school.  I attended one day out of the 5 because my grandfather became ill.  I attended to him daily and could not complete the program.  My grandpa passed away 9 months.  I tried to continue with the program but was unable to and due to financial reasons I moved to New Jersey with my wife and then 1 year old daughter.  I called the school and was trying to get a refund for years being told I had to sell it to someone else.  Al, The gentleman I signed up with was working with me and and finally told me that I would be able to get some of my money back.  After that conversation with Al a Mr Joe Bruno from the School told me that I'm not eligible for any refund whatsoever but never contacted the admissions person who's last name I can't make out but his first name is Al.  I feel that it's unfair that I will not be able to use the service due and also can't get anything back.  I've tried to talk with Mr Bruno but because I spoke to an attorney he now refuses to talk to me.  Which is ok but it seems like unfair treatment for someone who gave the school $695 for a week program and I can't receive anything.  I'm a filmmaker and since this incident, I've been fortunate enough to have found a successful career. Anyone can see this if you Google my name John Henry Soto.  I'm only upset at the arrogance of the emails from Mr. Joe Bruno and not one phone call.  His emails always made me feel like I'm just annoying him cause I want my money back. The principle of it is my motivation here and I know that I'm in the right.  All I want is what I didn't use and if there policy is saying I'm not entitled, then it's not right and I would like to protect anyone else who may fall for this.  Thank you.

This will be my last attempt at trying to reason with an unreasonable company via this site.  I'm only happy that it's been documented that the American Bartenters school and Joe Bruno ripped me off and now they are making me feel like a crook.  I paid them $700 and they won't even give me partial payment because I did 2 classes out of 10 and had to leave due to losing a family member and having to move.  Really sad.

I've been working and haven't been able to write my rebuttle but I want to thank the people at Ripoff Reports for allowing me to communicate my concerns with losing my money to the Amercian Bartending School.

However, I would like to know the name on the contract I have because it looked like Al but since the person who signed it seems to be hidding, maybe they will like to make themselves known and maybe confront this situation like a good employee should.

I'm NOT letting this go due to principle so as soon as I wrap my current TV project and return to home, I'll be continuing to reach out to Joe Bruno and everyone at the school to try to get some of my money back.

Have a wonderful fall season.

This is the last correspondence that we will present regarding this individual and matter.

No matter what assistance is/was offered as a resolution by this school, John Soto is being completely obtuse and obviously chooses to play ignorant to the details of his obligation to this company.

John Henry Soto did not do (2) classes. His recollection is intentionally inaccurate. John Henry Soto was a full day student that attended the majority of a one week program. John Henry Soto refuses to comprehend that he is not due a refund. He is missing his written and practical exams, other than that he has taken the whole course.

Students can attend this program two ways. Part day and full day.

Part day students attend (4) hours per day for (2) weeks. Full Day students attend (8) hours per day for (1) week. Therefore, a student who is attending a full day program is actually taking (2) classes per day. If you do (3) full days, that is equal to (6) classes, etc.

I don't know why that is so hard to digest, unless the person is inept at simple arithmetic.

John Henry Soto has continually attempted to slander the school through many forums, but once the facts of the situation are reviewed, anyone with any sense of reason and logic sees how he is undeniably wrong.

It is ridiculous.

We have acted well within our rights as a school and as a business. We bent over backward to cater to his many problems and defer his completion for multiple years.

He forgets the name of the agent that enrolled him, yet we have about a dozen emails written by him directly addressing his admissions agent by name with excuse after excuse on why he couldn't come in and finish the one or two days he had left to finalize completion.

Compare this situation to someone who eats dinner in a nice restaurant. Though included in the meal, the individual decides to skip dessert.

Three years later, the same person contacts the restaurant insisting on a full refund because he doesn't remember feeling full when he left.

That pretty much sums this up.

The facts supersede the claims John Henry Soto has made about American Bartenders School.

Anyone who reads this should know that valid complaints about this program can be counted on the fingers of one hand...and we've been in business forty years.

Feel free to visit our school and see exactly how we provide an exemplary education to the individuals who are interested in seeing their education through to the end.

I have a contract with the name of the individual that told me he would give me back half my money. The signature is very sloppy and hard to make out.

This organization has not acknowledged my reason for not being able to complete the program. I had a death in my family that created a tough situation for me and my family. I tried to work it out but unfortunately could not. Instead Joe Bruno and staff just insult me by suggesting that I can't compete a simple one week class and that I'm somehow trying to rip them off.  If you research my work on Google John Henry Soto, you will see how many projects I have completed and have been recognized for.  I have plenty of artistic friends that would agree with me on this subject.  It's not money but priciple.  Why should an organization keep money when they didn't provide that services regardless of the reason.  Therefore, The American Bartenders School is just insulting me and making me a villain and now threatening me with legal action.  All the more reason I need to fight this.  I don't want anyone else to have to deal with this.  I'm a family man that's never been in any legal trouble ever! Even growing up in the South Bronx I never had one issue. My wife is a teacher and my family in respected in my community.  I'm not a dishonest person and the American Bartenders School is using insults and threats to handle this matter. Not professional. They are accusing me of slander but slander against me in their rebuttal. To use their words, “Slander and unwarranted defamation of character are crimes in which the libel party end up paying compensatory damages based on the facts of the situation.”

I paid for something I couldn't use and would like my money back. Threatening me with a lawsuit is fine by me. I wouldn't mind presenting my case to a judge. I have nothing to lose since I've already lost $700 I don't mine paying more to get the case out in the public.  I can't even get a reasonable person from American Bartenders School to take responsibility for this and call me to prevent this from media attention.

It is not a waste of time for me because I hope to inform others of this situation.  If an organization has an unhappy customer, they should take responsibility and handle it professionally instead of just insulting the client. Not a good business model.

I will continue to try to get my money back. I'm not a bad person and shouldn't be punished because I had a rough 3 years and couldn't complete a one week program.  I'm not having a rough time now but I'm very upset at the tactics being used by The American Bartenders School.  I can give the $700 to a charity of your choosing for all I care!

I took 2 classes. I understand that. I was told by someone on the phone that I could have half my money back. But Joe Bruno now refuses. I can't understand why.  I will not complete the program and it cost me $700.  Please take responsibility and please response without any character defamation.

We at American Bartenders School pride ourselves on running an above board school for close to 50 years in this industry and we are quick to admit when we've made a mistake.

Additionally, we move forward to rectify any circumstances in which we are at fault in a manner most beneficial to the consumer/student.

However, in the circumstance presented here involving John Henry Soto, we feel that this individual is slandering us, attempting to damage our reputation and also trying to defraud us of funds that are rightfully due to us for services rendered.

Mr. Soto is not being forthcoming regarding his attendance record at the school nor the circumstances involving his enrollment.

According to our contract, which clearly states the refund policy based on a pro-rata system, his attendance superseded any refund due.

I REPEAT...HE HAS NO REFUND DUE TO HIM BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CLASSES HE HAS ATTENDED!

All records and contracts are available at our location, along with Mr. Soto's attendence record, along with oaths of attendance by our instruction team.

Additionally, he signed up for a one week class, which he attended most of, THREE YEARS AGO!

He was invited back to finally complete at his leisure after sending us e-mail after e-mail with multiple excuses why he couldn't finish the one week class..... literally for years!

Now he has changed his mind about finally completing and decided to perpetrate a smear campaign in an effort to have gotten something for nothing.

In conclusion, it is apparent that Mr. Soto is deluded. There is no one here named Al. Not now, not previously. After years of attempting to accomodate Mr. Soto, he has no recollection of the signed documents that clearly state our policies, the courtesy we had extended to him obviously counts for nothing; and in his mind, if an individual doesn't cower to strong arm tactics, they are "arrogant".

All channels that Mr. Soto has complained to thus far have reviewed the facts and sided in American Bartenders School's defense....including the BBB.

This is a waste of time and quite honestly, we're weighing the possibility of litigating against this individual in an effort to set a precedent.

Slander and unwarranted defamation of character are crimes in which the libel party end up paying compensatory damages based on the facts of the situation.

We suggest that Mr. Soto abandon this campaign of fallacy before incriminating himself any further.
