American Getaways LLC Repeated, harassing phone calls. They hang up as soon as you answer. Hallandale, Florida
This week I have had several calls from this company. They usually hang up when I answer. I have had four calls this evening, and so I looked on the internet and found this site to complain. I called the phone number back, earlier on, and the young man asked me for my name. I refused to tell him and I stated that I do not know his company and I told him that his company keeps randomly calling me, HE turned on me and said "do not call here again" in a very smarmy voice. While I was registering for this site, I got yet another call. This time I picked up after the first ring and the man, a different one, called me by my first name and knew my husband's name. I told him that this company had been harassing me all week. He said "You were at the Sarasota home show recently weren't you? I lied and said that I wasn't. He became irate with me and argumentative. Then I told him that I was actually on this site reporting his company, and he abruptly hung up. These people need to be investigated by the FBI. They should not be allowed to harass people constantly in this manner. I remember filling out my name and numberfor different companies at the home show. they must be either selling our info or this company is hacking into their systems and retrieving information.Ii noticed that a previous report also stated that they had used the home show excuse with them, also. Please be very careful about givingb your name and number out. how can we stop these scammers?

Hello, while I don't agree at all with the harassing phone calls and repeated hang ups by named company. I also don't agree that we are to assume they are a scam. IMO if I filled out a registration, then I am assuming the responsibility of some form of solicitation..most of the time. Usually the forms will state if my name will be used for other purposes. They generally are required by law to do so. The reason I know is I work in an industry where some of our sales groups use "leads" such as these. I support one of the groups in my firm. There are MANY regulations by both state and federal that a company generating names and numbers to call must abide by. I don't know wether they r or not, American Getaways llc has a B rating on the BBB. Not that it mean a whole lot but it does show they are likely not a scam. I imagine they are a marketing firm whom calls these leads and sells someones product. Unfortunately these forms staff sales reps that aren't the most proffesional at times...believe me I know first hand. It's a full time job managing some of these staffers, I've seen it.
Maybe next time don't fill the forms out, or if u do make sure you know what is going to happen. By reading the terms. I know we don't always take the time to do that but at least as a consumer ull know where ur putting sensitive information down on.. I know in my industry how hard it is to create new business, before we execute lets at least give them a fair trial...just sayin.
