i was working for american woodmark in kingman arizona for 2 years, i worked my way into maintenance and was there only a few mts when i started to get harassed by other employees because of depression i suffered. that was being made worse by the supervisor having me use respirator i was not fit for, this respirator was deffective so for weeks i was inhaling benzine and other chemicals that where making me very sick and could no longer take the haressment and went home when i returned to work the supervisor had wrote me up and called me into his office. he then told me he thought i was a Lunitic and would some day come into work and kill all the employees including him, i was left speechless!! i was then demoted to a class 1 and moved into stocking. i started a suit for discrimination, during that time i fell and broke my wrist cracked my elbow caused a Slap Lesion to my sholder and crunched 2 disks in my back i tryed to report this to a supervisor but was i was told that with my discrimination suit i wold most likely be fired if i reported this accdent, so i did not report it i worked the rest of that night in extreme pain after work i had to sleep at my table because i could not lay down. i returned to work that night and after 3 hours of work i could no longer take the pain and had to report the fall. after going to the e.r. i was told i could not return to work till the results of my drug test where in 3 weeks went by and still no report, so i went to the hospital and found that American woodmark did not even ask for the results, i then got a regesterd letter saying i had been fired for not being at work and to many points on the point system. i did win the suit but only for $3500,00 i'am now on work comp i have had 3 surgerys i still have extreme pain, and for the last 2.5 years i have not recived 1 check on time from broadspire all my money goes on late payments and intrest i eat very little and have lost over 30 lbs and now i might lose my car the only thing i have left. This is typical when someone is hurt and in pain the company response is to intimated and confuse someone in pain. Yes some may need more help than can be given. But in most cases the company can use it's insurance and get the person the right kind of help. Not mislead and fire them. It happens a lot in a company with no true leadership or one that is on the ropes. The truth is no leadership and lack of knowledge, about the rules and regulations a company says it follows. This company American Woodmark has not a clue!
