My company hired Ricardo under the pretences that he was a legitamate paver installer with current martin county license, workers comp, and liability insurance. Ricfardo told me that all of his paperwork was in orderand he presented me with a business card with his company name Pavers By Rick.
The first job I gave him to do turned out ok at first, but later started to fail and we had to repair a portion of it.He was paid in full at the completion of the job.Ricardo informed me that he could handle and much desired more work. We gave him two more jobs, one of witch he left unfinished and my other crew completed. He asked for another chance and i brought him on to work on the last project. Ricardo worked with us and completed that job. He submitted a labor only bill on his company letter head. I asked him to produce his current license and all of his insurances so that we could issue him a check. This is when all of the problems between us started. He could not produce any of the proper documentation.
After checking into his company with the Martin County Contractor Licensing we found out that he did not have a license. We also checked with another company that he worked for and found out that he had alot of the same problems. I told Ricardo that he would be paid when he could produce thge proper paperwork. I explained to him that we also have to produce the proper paperwork when we work for contractors etc., or we dont get paid. Bottom line Ricardo lied to me from day one.
Ricardo made a complaint against me to the Martin County Licensing Board, which i attended with all of my paperwork. some of the people on the board are General Contractors and homeowners that I have worked with over the years. It was determined that i did the right thing and everything was dismissed. They were actually going to fine Ricardo for doing business as a unlicensed contractor, but he never showed because he had been caught a few times before. I had no idea that he had reported this incident to Ripoff Report before today 5/1/2013.
I understand that he is still working in St Lucie County, Palm Beach County and if you can believe Martin County. If anybody would like anymore information or ask me any questions, please dont hesitate to call me at 772-403-3638
Not the number that Ricardo says that he tried to call me on stated in his complaint.
