Called anything with a plug to recycle a laptop I no longer needed. Laptop was in good shape and still worked. I could have probably sold it myself but with a lot on my schedule I decided it’d be best to just have it recycled. When I contacted anything with a plug recycling, I stressed to them that I wanted my laptop to be recycled properly and did not want to take the chances selling it online via craigslist or even eBay. I used this laptop for a lot of different things with work and finances and even though the hard drive was removed I was still unsure of do anything but recycling this laptop. Although very rude and short with me they insured me that the laptop was going to be taken apart and recycled. Everything was going to be destroyed to where no one could reuse the laptop. After a somewhat heated conversation I handed over the laptop. A week passed by and I was out strolling the local flea market looking for antiques. As I walked by a display of computers and laptops, I spotted something that looked eerily familiar. I stopped to examine the laptop. I grabbed my cellphone called my husband and asked him to recover the old hard drive and any papers we had from the laptop. He instructed me to look on the bottom of the laptop and locate a serial number. To our amazement the serial numbers matched. By then I had the attention of the owner of the booth and he tried to change my mind on the laptop was mine but he knew once I matched up the serial numbers there was no talking he way out of any lies. He then told me he purchased the laptop for $100 from a local scrapper in Raleigh off of Capital Blvd. He would not directly tell me the company name but hinted to me that it was who I thought it was. So after he had purchased the laptop he marked up the price to $300! So now all I am left with wondering is what information was recovered from the laptop if any plus these 2 guys and the booth owner all lied to me. The booth owner knowing how upset I was sold me the laptop back for what he had purchased it for. I then made a quick trip back to anything with a plug. No one was there but the doors opened. I made my way inside yelling hello! I found what I had thought were 2 friends running this location snuggled up in the back on a mattress (I am not against gay individuals or gay rights just think that this should take place in a more appropriate place and not at a recycling warehouse). Shocked, thinking that these 2 are homeless and sleeping at their place of work I decided to just leave. I called the "business" number which turned out to just be one of the guys mothers, I explained to her the situation. Again getting a very short rude response, she could not explain to me why a laptop I had given these guys for free to be recycled was resold to a local hustler??!! They promised data destruction and an all green recycling process but unfortunately this was a lie. the only thing green about their process was them lying to me and selling the laptop that was supposed to be destroyed. I would not suggest anyone to give anything to these guys as you have no idea what they are going to do with it and who is going to end up with it. If it is a recycling company they should stick to that and not sell to hustlers at flea markets. On top of that they are very rude and unprofessional.

Just dropped off quite a few items today. Dennis was very friendly and helped us unload even though he hurt his back the other day.

No complaints about a FREE service that recycles hard to recycle items for me. I have had trouble finding recycling services like this. I dropped off a few computers and hope  they can be reused or used for parts. I have no worries about the data because I removed the hard drives.

To me, it seems silly to complain about a service on a consumer reports site where someone is basically doing you a favor, since this is for FREE. Being a consumer usually implies a purchase is made. Not sure if I mentioned this, but Anythingwithaplugrecycling services was FREE. This is like complaining about Goodwill's donation services or the Vietnam Vets of America donation pick up services.

Again, Anythingwithaplugrecycling is a great service and company and I look forward to working with them in the future.

My experience with your company as described in my complaint is very true, if you want to believe it or not. whether or not you felt like anyone who works for you or yourself was rude to me is not your opinion to make for me. I felt like you all had been very short with me and rude. I am going to break it down and make it real simple.

1. Please excuse my grammar as I am a immigrant from Mexico and have only lived here for 4 years. I am still learning English and ways to live in the United States.

2. I felt as if I was rude to by the fact when I asked more than once what was going to happen to my item people where very quick to answer and short. From where I am from I felt as if this was very similar to how the hustlers deal in Mexico. For example:1. I asked what you do with stuff that is brought to you = “Oh we recycle everything and take it apart" 2. I DO NOT want my laptop to end up in anyone else’s hands " OH no we don't do that, you can leave it here or go somewhere else"

3. I never said anything about a broker. Even got mad at the last person that had responded by calling the hustler at the flea market a broker. I found my laptop at one of your repair guys booth at a flea market. I don't care if it had no hard drive in it or not when I brought it to you or when you sold it to one of your hustling goons. We had a verbal agreement to have the laptop destroyed.

4. Mattress is in the back of the warehouse sorry I didn't give coordination’s to its exact location. And yes you both are on the mattress Cudlleling to my shock so I left.

5. Your mother was rude.

#5REBUTTAL Owner of company

I wanted to take the time to clear the air on the reecent report sent to me by a current client. My company recycles and sells various needed parts to local only repair people NOT BROKERS OR RETAIL. If a client has a desire to have an item only recycled their request is then met and if they don't feel confident about the process I decline to take their equipment. I've had nothing but great reviews from individuals to corporations on attitude, proper handling of items, promptness, and most of all customer service from the intial phone call to pickup.

If you had a heated argument with myself or Braxton (owner's/ Dennis being primary) and you were  treated rudely why did you leave the laptop with us? I'm sorry you feel that way from an altercation that never took place over the phone with " The Mother" or at my place of business. The question I ask is why would I argue with somebody giving me something for FREE ? My business is located in the heart of the Raleigh Bonded Warehouse district on Capital Blvd NOT off Capital Blvd. The only info that can be retrieved from any computer on the planet is the hard drive ONLY (unless you have ESP)

There is no bed in the back ,it's actually located in the left hand side in the middle of the warehouse. On the day in question we  never or have ever "snuggled " at the place of business. And to bring up one's sexuality is not something I believe not to do due to the consequences of people such as yourself . And if you had called the business line as you stated I would have been aware of it due to the rude nature of YOUR call to my mother . The women who answers the phone is my mother which is ex IBM of 20 yrs. and a lifetime in managment of various corporate backgrounds. I feel that she's a good fit being retired from that career path and have had nothing but great things said about her customer service. I myself worked in the local restaurant business front of the house for 25 yrs. and Braxton has sales experience so it is in my belief we can handle any rude client in the upmost professional way.

We at Anythingwithaplugrecycling.com have an open door policy to where we hide nothing about the process within the recycling of items. We destruct hard drives in front of the client at the warehouse or at pickup location. ALL recyclable items are sold to Raleigh Metals and yes three repair people in the greater Rleigh area( with request honored if you wish them not to be). Recycling is all about recycle, reduce, and reuse which is our standards. If need be upon request I can provide references from individuals to corporations about my services provided for FREE. And please feel free to come by and inspect my 2300 sq.foot warehouse seperated by one wall. Witness a bed used to sleep on as we are there 7 days a week working 10-13 hrs daily needing a nap from time to time within a labor intestive day.

In summary of accusations they are untrue other than the bed being used to sleep on. I'm highly offended to be thought of as being homeless looking person in a place of business . Having a rude assistant and any altercations with a present or future clients.

As you write a complaint on a company its more believable if you use correct grammar and spelling .

You are missing the point. The verbal agreement was for this item to be "destroyed" not resold.

I am not sure where you got "broker" from, you are an idiot. I believe you have to have a license to be a broker not just rent a booth at a flea market. You can just call a someone a broker, I guess the guy on the corner downtown that sells oranges and flowers is broker to by your terms.

The complaint was made due to the lack of trust on a verbal agreement. If you knew the amount of fraud in the Raleigh area and the investigations that have taken place in the flea market where I found the laptop you would keep your comments to yourself.

And what if it did have a hard drive in it, then what?

You don't have to worry about your personnal data if you removed you hard drive before handing over your laptop.

The only piece of hardware that stores any information whatsoever is the hard drive.

Now for the recycling part, if they sold it to a broker who will then sell it to a customer, isn't that recycling?

The laptop does'nt end up in the trash and is used again by a new owner, this is perhaps the best example of a recycled product.
