I do not know if this AP Complex in Camaroon is the same one that has a website.  It is unfortunately possible the scammers are not associated with the company whose name they were using at all.  I found the USA Reperesntative was not employed by the employer he allged so it is possible this company also had nothing to do with the scam.  However I report to let you know there are scammers usin AP Complex in Cameroon as part of their scam.  The only reliable part of their scam may be their using Western Union.

I searched for low price Formaldahyde to re-sell and LookCham appeared.  They released my contact information to about a dozen alleged companies that sell chemicals and other products including stainless steel fitings.  Only a few of the spammers said they could supply Formaldahyde.  I picked one who claimed to be a USA located representative of a company AP Complex in Cameroon.  THey went through a very complex scipt to get me to increase my initial trial order from 300 liter bottles to 700, pretended to ship but stopped shipment allegedly in France unless I increased the order to 1500 units.

I did not buy the increase and I was told I would get a PARTIAL refund of the $787.80 I had sent by Western Union.  They went through more theatrics claiming the boss had gone on vacation, the order taker was fired and they couldn't find him to get the refund money the boss had given him, and so on until they eventually stopped responding at all.  I hold LookChem responsible as the initial contact which does not investigate the chemical manufacturers it refers buyers to and when notified of the scam they sent even more spam vendor emails.

Eventually I searched and found another report of a non-delivery scam by AP Complex in Cameroon.  I contacted the Florida company the initial contact Walter Shavers claimed to work for and learned he was not their employee.  He had sent me a photo of a New York driver's license but it is unknown if that was genuinely haeld by the negotiator.  The email addresses use in this AP Complex scam ere [email protected] representing [email protected] and allegedly shipping by [email protected]  In total they cost me $787.80 plus Western Union fees with no product sent and no refund.

I eventually checked the US Embassy website for Cameroon and found a mention they do not ocnsider Western Union as reputable as a bank.  So I inquired of Senator Wyden who assigned someone to look into it.  Lessons are, don't deal with online businesses you can't visit a retail outlet for until you have first searched for a ripoff report and other ways of validating and varifying the purchase - then never send money without protection by a Credit Card which by law covers and refunds scams.  Also, instead of accepting any documentation at face value, get the person to do a live video chat so you can see if his face matches his driver's license or other idenifying information.
