June 18, 2010 my brother purchased a used 1998 Chevrolet truck, for $9888, with 113,499  miles from Fidelity Fleet and Finance, 1950 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon, financed through Reliable Credit.  The "Extra Warranty" purchased at the same time is from AUL Administrators, Napa, California.

On September 24, 2010, his motor blew and he had it towed, at the recommendation of the Fidelity Fleet and Finance salesman selling him the truck, to a reputable Chevrolet dealer in the Portland area.  Since then, it has been moved, by Fidelity Fleet and Finance, approximately 3 times to a variety of private service businesses, supposedly for repair,  the last one restricting their warranty for repair at 1 year warranty.  He has been told by Fidelity Fleet and Finance that the truck was begun being repaired, and when he went over to see how they were progressing, found out that no work had been done on the truck.

He has been told that repair costs to him will be $600 and then at various times the amount has changed to $700, and as high as $900 for the truck's repair. He feels that Fidelity Fleet and Finance has been unsupportive in the timely repair of the truck.

His warranty is a 24 month/24 K warranty.  He had put about 1,000 miles on the truck prior to its breakdown.

He has paid to rent a car for a week, and finally resorted to buying a car...the truck still in disrepair. Meanwhile, he is responsible for continuing to make the truck's loan payments, including the meaningless AUL Administrators' so-called "extra warranty."

The warranty was to be a $100 deductible policy.

Next on our agenda is filing a Better Business Bureau report, as well as a warranty claim with the Oregon Attorney General's Consumer Protection Unit.

We  need to have  Fidelity Fleet and Finance, in Portland, Oregon and  AUL Administrators Corporation in Napa, California, repair the truck correctly and according to the deductible stated on their warranty, in a timely manner.  My brother is honest, and purchased the truck with good faith.  We expect both companies to be true to their word in their business relating to this truck.

My brother and I met with Jim Fisher, Manager of Fidelity Fleet Finance, Friday afternoon, October 29, 2010.  We discussed questions that we had regarding the truck's repair.

After this discussion my brother feels that he understands the warranty process and we are both appreciative of what Fidelity Fleet Finance and AUL Administrators have done to come to agreement regarding AUL's repair negotiation.

He is also appreciative of Reliable Credit's understanding of the additional costs incurred regarding the necessary car rental for a week, due to not having his transportation, and his having to buy another vehicle as he awaits the truck repair.

Jim assured us that the truck was going to be towed to a private party repair home and that my brother would have the truck back in approximately a week, the engine warranty from the private party being a year's warranty. He assured us that should the truck have further repair necessary, again, the AUL Administrators' Warranty would be used:  2 years, 24K miles.

My brother's cost to get the truck back is still around $700, due at time of truck pick up.
