Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Our problem began in June of 2003. Without our knowledge Auto One decided to change our account number. If we where the average consumer this wouldn't have been a big deal. However both my husband & myself are active duty military and had our account with Auto One set up as an allotment through the Air Force.

So when Auto One changed the acct # they then started misplacing our payments (which we had proof of being deducted from our pay by the USAF). By the time we knew this had become a problem our account was 60 days overdue.

That's when the unpleasant, harassing calls began. Some days we would receive between 2 to 5 calls a day. In some households that may not matter. However my husband works nights and this disrupted his sleep. We began by patiently explaining the situation (every time they called, everyday). What frustrated us most was that the customer service personnel weren't even reading their notes in their computer about Mrs. Terrain being our case manager (which actually took us until Feb. 2004 to even get her assigned).

Like many other stories I have read they were VERY rude and demanding without even knowing the situation or the people involved. They only had one thing on their mind - - GET OUR MONEY!!! At one point we even had one of their representatives threaten us with repossessing our vehicle. That's when we went to the Base Legal rep. - and we where told that we had recourse to sue them if they did this because it was a problem on their end not the Air Force's end. I don't know about you but we didn't have $2,000 laying around for lawyer fees so we just decided to deal with this as best as we could.

We went back and forth with them. Having to obtain copies of certified checks from the AF (which the AF didn't want to give up, because we where not the only people on this private payroll check-which had SSN# on it) To think if any of those other individuals where deployed fighting over in Iraq while this was happening to them I bet they came home after defending their country to no vehicle.

We have since finally settled this mess by stopping our allotment and calling in our payment every month. Not very covenant or customer friendly if you ask me. However our credit is now trashed. We recently tried to have our loan switched over to another lending establishment and they sighted because of past delinquents (this Auto One Acct) that they wouldn't be able to help us.

Now our credit wasn't perfect to begin with. However we where also able to obtain the things we needed / wanted without much problem. To think you can work years to keep your credit in good standings and because one company doesn't want to talk to their accounting department or the United States Air Force Acct. Dept. now we can't even refinance our vehicle. Forget about those commercials where people have had their identities stolen by strangers. There are companies out there like Auto One that ruin credit just because they are lazy......
